Article Synopsis
  • This study aims to define criteria for treating colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) using a three-dimensional liver model created by an expert panel, allowing for better treatment predictions.
  • Data from two multicenter trials involved 202 participants with small CRLM (≤3 cm) and explored treatment options like resection, thermal ablation, and irreversible electroporation (IRE).
  • The findings indicate a clear distinction in treatment preferences based on tumor location, suggesting superficial tumors should be resected, while deeper tumors should be treated with ablation, effectively predicting treatment recommendations in 73.8% of cases.

Injury Prevention and Community Outreach Program, University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA, USA.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined rural adolescents' attitudes towards helmet use while riding ATVs, motorcycles, and dirt bikes, highlighting the significant impact of helmet use on preventing head injuries.
  • A total of 1331 participants from Iowa were surveyed, revealing that while many owned ATVs, helmet usage was notably lower for ATV riders compared to dirt bike and motorcycle riders.
  • The research found lower helmet use among farm residents and vehicle owners, with a significant portion of participants expressing stronger support for helmet laws correlated with lower ownership and riding frequency.

Atoguanil™ is a novel complex of atovaquone (ATV) and proguanil (PG) with enhanced ATV bioavailability compared to Malarone®. This pilot study assessed whether the relative bioavailability (F) of ATV, PG, and the primary PG metabolite cycloguanil (CG) following a single oral dose in the fed state of Atoguanil was similar to Malarone despite a 50% lower ATV dose. This open-label, single-dose, randomized 2-period, 2-treatment, balanced crossover study was conducted between 17th November 2021 and 18th March 2022.

To assess the ability of the aortic aneurysm volume (AAV), aneurysmal lumen volume (ALV), and aneurysmal thrombus volume (ATV) to predict the need for aortic reintervention when using the maximal aortic diameter as a reference. This monocentric retrospective study included 31 consecutive patients who underwent successful thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) to treat an atheromatous thoracic aortic aneurysm. All patients underwent clinical and computed tomography angiography (CTA) for 3 years after TEVAR.

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitors are standard of care in metastatic renal cell carcinoma but their activity and safety in elderly patients is insufficiently explored. We evaluated outcomes of elderly patients with mRCC treated with nivolumab in the GETUG-AFU 26 NIVOREN phase 2 trial (NCT03013335) and conducted exploratory circulating biomarker analyses.

Methods: Patients with mRCC were treated with nivolumab after at least one antiangiogenic therapy.
