Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the effectiveness of a new ECG technique called CineECG, which visualizes heart electrical activity, in improving cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) for patients who don't respond well to standard treatments.
  • - Researchers analyzed CineECG data from 15 patients with heart conditions under different pacing settings and found that specific movement directions in the heart's electrical signals correlate with better immediate heart performance (measured as dP/dt max).
  • - The results indicate that the direction of the ST-T segment during repolarization can predict a significant improvement in heart function during CRT, suggesting that CineECG could help optimize treatment plans for patients.

Objectives: The percentage of shunt fraction significantly impacts the management of patients with congenital shunts, influencing strategic choices such as surgical or interventional procedures. This study compared the estimated shunt fraction (the ratio of pulmonary-to-systemic flow, Qp/Qs) for quantifying the left-to-right shunt in children with ventricular septal defect (VSD) using heart catheterization, four-dimensional (4D) flow, and two-dimensional (2D) flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The goal was to establish a non-invasive and reliable measurement ratio between pulmonary and systemic blood flow in these patients.

Background: Image harmonization has been proposed to minimize heterogeneity in brain PET scans acquired in multi-center studies. However, standard validated methods and software tools are lacking. Here, we assessed the performance of a framework for the harmonization of brain PET scans in a multi-center European clinical trial.

CT pulmonary angiography is commonly used in diagnosing chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). This work was conducted to determine if cardiac chamber size on CTPA may also be useful for predicting the outcome of CTEPH treatment. A retrospective analysis of paired CTPA and right heart hemodynamics in 33 consecutive CTEPH cases before and after pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) was performed.

Background: We investigated the potential use of SPECT quantification in addition to qualitative brain perfusion analysis for the detection of anti-NMDAR encephalitis. The question is how to normalize brain activity to be able to quantitatively detect perfusion patterns. Usually, brain activity is normalized to a structure considered unaffected by the disease.
