We investigated viability of hepatitis E virus (HEV) identified in contaminated pork liver sausages obtained from France. HEV replication was demonstrated in 1 of 4 samples by using a 3-dimensional cell culture system. The risk for human infection with HEV by consumption of these sausages should be considered to be high.

Background: Muscle depletion (MD) is a critical factor that influences clinical outcomes in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Although its role in cancer prognosis is recognized, its integration into widely used prognostic systems remains underexplored. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic impact of MD on overall survival (OS) in HCC patients and to improve existing noninvasive prognostic models by incorporating MD-related metrics.

Foodborne viruses are significant contributors to global food safety incidents, posing a serious burden on human health and food safety. In this study, a multiplex reverse transcription-droplet digital PCR (RT-ddPCR) assay based on the MS2 phage as a process control virus (PCV) was developed to achieve the simultaneous detection of hepatitis A virus (HAV) and hepatitis E virus (HEV) in bivalve shellfish. By optimizing the reaction system and procedures, the best reaction conditions were selected, and the specificity, sensitivity, and reproducibility of the method were assessed.

This study utilized a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to investigate the genetic variations linked to the risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation in patients who have undergone liver transplantation (LT), aiming to enhance understanding and improve clinical outcomes. Genotyping performed on a selected patients from the Korean Organ Transplantation Registry (KOTRY) data using high-throughput platforms with the Axiom Korea Biobank array 1.1.
