The flaps based on the vascular axis of superficial sensitive cutaneous nerves had gained increased popularity in reconstructive surgery because of such major advantages as preservation of major extremity arteries and avoidance of microsurgical procedures. However, postoperative venous congestion resulting in partial or total necrosis is still a common problem for these flaps. The aim of the current study is to introduce a new method for reducing the postoperative venous congestion of neural island flap with the results of reconstruction of the soft tissue defects of foot and ankle. This method was used to treat 19 patients with various chronic soft tissue defects of the foot and ankle between 2011 and 2012. We observed that the novel method presented in this report enables effective venous drainage, solving the postoperative venous congestion problem of these flaps.

Background/aim: Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is widely employed to prevent postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE). This study aimed at analyzing LMWH use and evaluating its efficacy and safety in immediate implant-based post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.

Patients And Methods: A monocentric retrospective analysis was conducted on patients who underwent immediate implant-based breast reconstruction (IBR) from January 2021 to December 2023.

BACKGROUND Iliac vein injuries usually require surgical intervention due to their high mortality rates. Although conservative management may be applicable in some cases of blunt trauma, the suitability of this approach for treating penetrating injuries remains underexplored. CASE REPORT A 51-year-old man sustained a common iliac vein injury following rectal impalement in a collapsing chair.

To assess and compare the sensory component of the saphenous nerve in Coronary artery disease (CAD) patients undergoing Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) with great saphenous vein graft pre and post-CABG. An observational longitudinal study evaluating the effect of surgery on the saphenous nerve involved 32 CAD patients undergoing CABG. This study was carried out jointly by the Department of Physiology and the Department of Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery (CTVS) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal, India from November 2022 to January 2024.

Objective: This study explored the surgical technique and clinical application of the dorsal metacarpal cutaneous branch flap of the radial digital artery of the index finger.

Methods: Through the anatomical dissection of 10 hand specimens, we examined the origin and characteristics of the artery and its branches towards the hand dorsum. Furthermore, the soft tissue defects of the index finger in 12 patients admitted to our hospital between 2017 and 2021 were surgically repaired using the dorsal metacarpal cutaneous branch flap of the radial digital artery of the index finger.

Simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplantation is a recognized treatment for patients with insulin-dependent diabetes and advanced chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease (ESRD), offering significant survival benefits. However, it is associated with a higher risk of venous thrombosis, which can jeopardize the survival of the pancreaticoduodenal graft. This case report describes a patient with type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and ESRD who developed acute, occlusive deep vein thrombosis (DVT) involving the right common femoral, profunda femoral, and greater saphenous veins on postoperative day 1 (POD1) following a deceased donor SPK transplant, despite systemic prophylactic anticoagulation.
