A series of novel Cd(II) complexes based on α,β-unsubstituted dipyrrin ligands (dpm) has been prepared and characterised both in solution and in the solid state. These compounds are of the [Cd(dpm)(2)] type, with the coordination sphere of the metal centre occupied by two dpm chelates. Interestingly, in contrast to what has been reported for the Zn(II) analogues, in the presence of a pyridyl- or imidazolyl-appended dpm ligand, the coordination number of the Cd(II) cation can be increased to six, leading to an octahedral coordination sphere. As a consequence, the formation of 1-, 2-, and 3D coordination polymers by self-assembly is observed. Photophysical investigations of the discrete complexes and self-assembled networks have demonstrated that both types of compounds are luminescent in the solid state.

This study investigates the sustainable use of spp. bark through different chemical (hydrothermal, acid, alkaline, and bleaching) and physical (milling) pretreatments in the production of sustainable films. Valorization of agro-industrial residues and the demand for sustainable materials pose challenges for environmentally responsible solutions.

Stimulus-responsive luminescent materials are pivotal in the field of sensing. Fluorescent transition metal complexes with a charge transfer excited state, especially terpyridine-coordinated polymers, are of particular interest due to their tunable emission. In this paper, a novel bis-terpyridine ligand was synthesized and assembled into a coordination polymer, which showed intense visible light absorption and fluorescence emission in the solid state that could be regulated by an acidic or basic pH.

A novel monomer, 9-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]fluorene di(mercaptopropionate), with a highly refractive index, purity, and excellent UV-curable properties, is synthesized through an optimized Fischer esterification process, reacting 9,9-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]fluorene with 3-mercaptopropionic acid. The structural characterization of this monomer is performed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The synthesis conditions are optimized using a design-of-experiments approach.

Pyrene (Pr) was used to improve the electrochemical and electrochromic properties of polythiophene copolymerized with 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT). The corresponding product, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene-co-Pyrene) (P(EDOT-co-Pr)), was successfully synthesized by electrochemical polymerization with different monomer concentrations in propylene carbonate solution containing 0.1 M lithium perchlorate (LiClO/PC (0.
