Upon injury, the skin must quickly regenerate to regain its barrier function. In mammals, wound healing is rapid and scar free during embryogenesis, whereas in adults it involves multiple steps including blood clotting, inflammation, re-epithelialization, vascularization, and granulation tissue formation and maturation, resulting in a scar. We have established a rapid and robust method to introduce full-thickness wounds onto the flank of adult zebrafish, and show that apart from external fibrin clot formation, all steps of adult mammalian wound repair also exist in zebrafish. Wound re-epithelialization is extremely rapid and initiates with no apparent lag phase, subsequently followed by the immigration of inflammatory cells and the formation of granulation tissue, consisting of macrophages, fibroblasts, blood vessels, and collagen. The granulation tissue later regresses, resulting in minimal scar formation. Studies after chemical treatment or with transgenic fish further suggest that wound re-epithelialization occurs independently of inflammation and fibroblast growth factor signaling, whereas both are essential for fibroblast recruitment and granulation tissue formation. Together, these results demonstrate that major steps and principles of cutaneous wound healing are conserved among adult mammals and adult zebrafish, making zebrafish a valuable model for studying vertebrate skin repair.

Object: This study aims to analyze the clinical characteristics of children with tracheobronchial foreign body and to investigate the factors influencing the surgical duration of rigid bronchoscopic foreign body removal under general anesthesia.
Methods: We retrospectively identified 421 children diagnosed with tracheobronchial foreign body undergoing rigid bronchoscopy between January 2020 and December 2021. A comprehensive analysis was conducted on patient demographics, including age, weight, gender, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification, foreign body type and location, duration of foreign body retention, preoperative symptoms, signs, imaging findings, tracheobronchial manifestations observed during bronchoscopy, and surgical durations.

In this work, laponite (LAP) was used to develop the silver (Ag) based nanocomposite for improved anti-bacterial action and wound healing properties. The amphiphilic co-polymers such as PLGA polymer was embedded with the surface of LAP molecules and polyethyleneimine (PEI) through the interaction of hydrophobic binding and it was formed as LAP/PLA-PEG/PEI formulation through the coupling chemistry. The Ag nanoparticles was loaded into formulation to develop LAP/PLA-PEG/PEI/Ag nanocomposite and characterized by different analytical techniques.

An umbilical granuloma (UG) is one of the most common umbilical anomalies seen in infants, mostly due to delayed cord separation. It is usually treated with silver nitrate; however, topical application of silver nitrate can cause chemical burns, creating concern among parents. We present a similar case in a two-month-old baby boy with a giant UG, which was treated with topical silver nitrate application, producing significant chemical burns around the umbilicus and on the anterior abdominal wall.
