The Ag(2)S loaded ZnO (Ag(2)S-ZnO) was successfully synthesized by precipitation of zinc oxalate and Ag(2)S and calcination of the mixed precipitate at 400 °C for 12 h. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) images, energy dispersive spectra (EDS), diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) photoluminescence spectra (PL) and BET surface area measurements. The photocatalytic activity of Ag(2)S-ZnO was investigated for the degradation of Acid Black (AB 1) in aqueous solution using UV light. Ag(2)S-ZnO is found to be more efficient than commercial ZnO, prepared ZnO and TiO(2)-P25 at pH 9 for the mineralization of Acid Black 1. The effects of operational parameters such as the amount of photocatalyst, dye concentration, initial pH on photo mineralization have been analyzed. Mechanism of degradation by Ag(2)S-ZnO is proposed. The mineralization of Acid Black 1 has also been confirmed by COD measurements. The catalyst is found to be reusable.

Background: Blood-based biomarkers may aid in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease (AD), but their contribution may be confounded by the presence of multiple chronic conditions and have not been well-tested in community populations. In the current study, we aimed to determine whether blood-based biomarkers can aid in refining a multi-ethnic, urban clinically diagnosed AD community-based cohort.
Method: We included 546 individuals in the Washington Heights, Hamilton Heights, and Inwood Columbia Aging Project (WHICAP) study in this cross-sectional study.

Background: The endocannabinoid system has demonstrated roles in Alzheimer's Disease (AD), such as modulation of inflammation. Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH) is the enzyme responsible for the rapid inactivation of the endocannabinoid anandamide into arachidonic acid and ethanolamine. In doing so, FAAH modulates the concentration of anandamide and influences neurobehavioral functions and physiological conditions such as nociception and inflammatory responses.

Dentin hypersensitivity (DH), marked by exposed dentinal tubules, presents as a sharp toothache triggered by stimuli and subsides when the stimuli are removed. To address the limitations of current commercial desensitizers in terms of acid resistance, friction resistance, and stability, a black phosphorus nanosheet-composited methacrylate gelatin hydrogel (GelMA/BP) is developed for DH treatment, leveraging the synergistic effects of photothermal therapy and biomineralization. Incorporating the BP nanosheet provided GelMA/BP with a stable photothermal response and the continuous release of phosphate anions, which blocked dentinal tubules by converting light energy into heat and initiating biomineralization.

Unlabelled: Black rice has a long history of cultivation in Asia especially China. As a whole grain, black rice is rich in diverse nutrients including proteins, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, unsaturated fatty acids, dietary fibers, alkaloids, carotenes, phenolic compounds, and anthocyanins, in addition to starch. Many studies have demonstrated a range of health-promoting effects by black rice, which has greatly attracted the attention of consumers.

The potential of insects as alternative ingredients in animal feeds is well-established. However, limited information is available on the use of insect oils as alternative lipid sources in aquafeeds. To address this, a study was conducted on gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) juveniles to evaluate the effects of including black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae oil (HIO).
