Objective: To investigate the predictive value of serum nitrate (nitrogen oxide: NOx) levels in the detection of peripheral and mesenteric ischaemia durations.
Methods: Rats were sacrificed for determining the basal serum values of NOx in Group I without any intervention. The superior mesenteric artery was clamped in Groups II and III and blood samples were taken at 120 minutes in Group II and at 360 minutes in Group III. The right common femoral artery was clamped in Groups IV and V and blood samples were taken at 120 minutes in Group IV and at 360 minutes in Group V.
Results: The peak values of NOx were obtained in Group II and Group IV. NOx levels were reduced in advanced periods of ischaemia. In the other words, the NOx levels were significantly higher at two hours of ischaemia (p < 0.05), and NOx levels were reduced to normal ranges at the sixth hour of ischaemia.
Conclusion: Early diagnosis and rapid treatment are important for acute ischaemic disorders. Serum NOx levels can be a decisive biomarker for prediction of the critical ischaemia period.

Objectives: Ischemia/reperfusion (IR)-induced ventricular arrhythmia, which mainly occurs after the opening of coronary artery occlusion, poses a clinical problem. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of pretreatment with coenzyme Q (CoQ) in combination with mitochondrial transplantation on IR-induced ventricular arrhythmias in aged rats.
Materials And Methods: Myocardial IR induction was performed by left anterior descending coronary artery occlusion for 30 min, followed by re-opening for 24 hr.

Background: This study tested the hypothesis that extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ECSWT) effectively rescues critical limb ischemia (CLI) in mice through the upregulation of GPR120, which protects against inflammation and angiogenesis to restore blood flow in the ischemic area.
Methods And Results: Compared with the control, ECSWT-induced GPR120-mediated anti-inflammatory effects significantly suppressed the expression of inflammatory signaling biomarkers (TAK1/MAPK family/NF-κB/IL-1β/IL-6/TNF-α/MCP-1) in HUVECs, and these effects were abolished by silencing GPR120 or by the GPR120 antagonist AH7614 (all P < 0.001).

Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a common pathogenic situation that arises throughout all liver surgeries, including liver transplants. We aimed to compare the preventive effects of valsartan (VST) against valsartan + sacubitril (LCZ696) on hepatic injury caused by IRI. A total of thirty-six male Westar albino rats were split into six groups randomly: sham, IRI, VST + IRI, LCZ696 + IRI, VST, and LCZ696.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia that is characterized by atrial electrical remodeling. The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R), an ATP-gated ion channel, has been implicated in cardiovascular pathologies; however, its role in atrial electrical remodeling remains unclear. This study investigated whether inhibition of P2X7R could mitigate isoproterenol (ISO)-induced atrial electrical remodeling in rats and explored the underlying mechanisms.

Chlorine radicals (Cl) are highly reactive and affect the fate of air pollutants. Several field studies in China have revealed elevated levels of daytime molecular chlorine (Cl), which, upon photolysis, release substantial amounts of Cl but are poorly represented in current chemical transport models. Here, we implemented a parametrization for the formation of daytime Cl through the photodissociation of particulate nitrate in acidic environments into a regional model and assessed its impact on coastal air quality during autumn in South China.
