Propargyl iodides are good precursors for allenylzincs via reaction with diethylzinc, even in nondegassed medium. These reactions proceed via zinc/iodine exchange. Owing to the previously reported detection of propargyl radical by ESR experiments, in this process a radical mechanism was suspected. Calculations of the C-Zn BDEs in allenyl- and propargylzinc species were performed with the CBS-QB3 method to demonstrate that propargyl radicals could undergo homolytic substitution at zinc. The stabilization of allenylzinc derivatives by chelation, made possible by the selection of appropriate ortho-substituted 3-phenylalkynyl iodides as precursors, was shown to influence the regioselectivity of their addition to aldehydes and ketones. The more stabilized the chelated allenylzinc intermediate, the higher the ratio of homopropargylic alcohols.

Four new pyrazolo[3,4-]pyrimidines (-) were successfully synthesized in good relative yields by reacting 3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-]pyrimidin-4-ol with various alkylating agents (methyl iodide, propargyl bromide, and phenacyl bromide) at room temperature in DMF solvent, employing liquid-solid phase transfer catalysis. The - structures were elucidated using NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Intermolecular interactions in - were analyzed via Hirshfeld surface analysis and 2D fingerprint plots.

The conversion of CO to generate high-value-added chemicals has become one of the hot research topics in green synthesis. Thereinto, the cyclization reaction of propargylic amines with CO is highly attractive because the resultant oxazolidinones are widely found in pharmaceutical chemistry. Cu(I)-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as catalysts exhibit promising application prospects for CO conversion.

Nickel-Catalyzed Asymmetric Propargyl-Aryl Cross-Electrophile Coupling.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

Performing asymmetric cross-coupling reactions between propargylic electrophiles and aryl nucleophiles is a well-established method to build enantioenriched benzylic alkynes. Here, a catalytic enantioselective propargyl-aryl cross-coupling between two electrophiles was achieved for the first time in a stereoconvergent manner. Propargylic chlorides were treated with aryl iodides as well as heteroaryl iodides in the presence of a chiral nickel complex, and manganese metal was used as a stoichiometric reductant, allowing for the construction of a propargyl C-aryl bond under mild conditions.

Palladium Iodide Catalyzed Multicomponent Carbonylative Synthesis of 2-(4-Acylfuran-2-yl)acetamides.

2-Propargyl-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds have been carbonylated under oxidative conditions and with the catalysis of the PdI/KI catalytic system to selectively afford previously unreported 2-(4-acylfuran-2-yl)acetamides in fair to good yields (54-81%) over 19 examples. The process takes place under relatively mild conditions and occurs via a mechanistic pathway involving C-H activation by oxidative monoamincarbonylation of the terminal triple bond of the substrates with formation of 2-ynamide intermediates, followed by 5---cyclization (via intramolecular conjugate addition of the in situ formed enolate to the 2-ynamide moiety) and aromative isomerization.
