Context: Carcinoid tumors arising from the bile ducts account for only a small fraction of biliary tract cancers.
Case Report: We report herein a 42-year-old man with a carcinoid tumor of the common bile duct. He presented with abdominal pain, bloating and dyspepsia. Clinicolaboratory and imaging studies suggested a probable obstructive common bile duct lesion. The patient underwent an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with a stent placement in view of common bile duct decompression. Persistence of symptoms prompted a laparotomy and pancreaticoduodenectomy that revealed a well-differentiated carcinoid tumor originating in the common bile duct.
Conclusion: Clinician's familiarity with the unusual sites of origin of neuroendocrine tumors and/or atypical presentation of such tumors may facilitate their early recognition and allow for a timely intervention.

Surgical resection is the only curative treatment for cholangiocarcinoma, but it is often diagnosed at advanced stages, making surgical resection infeasible. Recently, the concept of conversion surgery has expanded the indications for surgical treatment, thanks to advancements in both perioperative management and chemotherapy. However, it remains unclear which patients benefit most from this treatment strategy.

Background/aim: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is an aggressive hepatobiliary malignancy characterized by genomic heterogeneity. KRAS mutations play a significant role in influencing patient prognosis and guiding therapeutic decision-making. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and prognostic significance of KRAS mutations in CCA, asses the detection of KRAS G12/G13 mutations in plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA), and evaluate the prognostic value of KRAS G12/G13 mutant allele frequency (MAF) in cfDNA in relation to clinicopathological data and patient survival.

Cholangiocarcinoma is an aggressive bile duct malignancy with heterogeneous genomic features. Although most patients receive standard-of-care chemotherapy/immunotherapy, genomic changes that can be targeted with established or emerging therapeutics are common. Accordingly, precision medicine strategies are transforming the next-line treatment for patient subsets.

Background: Obstructive jaundice is a common health challenge in daily clinical practice caused by a heterogeneous group of benign and malignant conditions in or around extrahepatic bile ducts. This study aimed to investigate the causes of obstructive jaundice, analyze the age and sex distribution, and report the locations of obstruction.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of electronic records of patients diagnosed with obstructive jaundice in the Hadhramout region in Yemen.
