[Cp*Ir(Pro)Cl] (Pro = prolinato) was identified among a series of Cp*-iridium half-sandwich complexes as a highly reactive and selective catalyst for the alkylation of amines with alcohols. It is active under mild conditions in either toluene or water without the need for base or other additives, tolerates a wide range of alcohols and amines, and gives secondary amines in good to excellent isolated yields.

An unsuccessful attempt to directly construct alkaloid iheyamine A from a fascaplysin framework resulted in the discovery of a novel synthetic approach to alkylated δ,γ-biscarboline derivatives. With the easy-to-operate reaction conditions of this protocol, 18 alkylated biscarbolines have been prepared in moderate to good yields. An unexpected domino transformation was proposed to involve a pyridinium ring-opening/aza-electrocyclization/oxidative deformylation sequence.

In the past few years, the direct activation of organohalides by ligated boryl radicals has emerged as a potential synthetic tool for cross-coupling reactions. In most existing methods, ligated boryl radicals are accessed from NHC-boranes or amine-boranes. In this work, we report a new photocatalytic platform by modular assembly of readily available amines and diboron esters to access a library of ligated boryl radicals for reaction screening, thus enabling the cross-coupling of organohalides and alkenes including both activated and unactivated ones for C(sp)-C(sp) bond formation by using the assembly of DABCO A1 and BNepB1.

Metalation of bpy-containing MOF-253 led to the synthesis of MOF-253-0.5Ag, which acts as an efficient catalyst for the carbonylative cyclization of CO with alkyne molecules (such as propynyl alcohols and propynyl amines) at room temperature and ambient CO pressure, yielding the corresponding α-alkyl cyclic carbonates and oxazolidinones, thus endowing the catalytic system with bifunctional characteristics.

Butyl phenyl--phosphinate that is not available commercially was prepared from phenyl--phosphinic acid by three methods: by alkylating esterification (i), by microwave-assisted direct esterification (ii), and unexpectedly, by thermal esterification (iii). Considering the green aspects, selectivity and scalability, the thermal variation seemed to be optimal. However, there was need for prolonged heating.

Considering our previous experience in the design of new cholinesterase inhibitors, especially resveratrol analogs, in this research, the basic stilbene skeleton was used as a structural unit for new carbamates designed as potentially highly selective butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitors with excellent absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity ADMET properties. The inhibitory activity of newly prepared carbamates - was tested toward the enzymes acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and BChE. In the tested group of compounds, the leading inhibitors were and , which achieved excellent selective inhibitory activity for BChE with IC values of 0.
