Chorioangioma is the most common benign vascular placental tumor. It is often small and has no clinical significance. Large chorioangiomata are rarer and can lead to fetal or maternal complications. Chorioangiomatosis is even rarer and is defined as a focal or multifocal proliferation of placental capillaries permeating villous tissue. Placental mesenchymal dysplasia (PMD) is characterized by the overgrowth of placental mesenchymal tissue and can be associated with fetal or obstetrical complications. We report a case associated with preeclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction, in which both chorioangiomatosis and PMD were present.

Background: Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is a chronic disease of the gastric mucosa characterized by a reduction or an absolute disappearance of the original gastric glands, possibly replaced by pseudopyloric fibrosis, intestinal metaplasia, or fibrosis. CAG develops progressively into intestinal epithelial metaplasia, dysplasia, and ultimately, gastric cancer. Epidemiological statistics have revealed a positive correlation between the incidence of CAG and age.

Objective: Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of alveolar epithelial cells is an important mechanism for the onset and development of broncho-pulmonary dysplasia (BPD).The role of FGF-2 in BPD is currently unclear.
