Asarinin, C(20)H(18)O(6), was isolated as a racemate from the shrub Zanthoxylum alatum. Both forms of the enantiomerically pure substance, (+)- and (-)-asarinin, have been the subject of a total of five previous structure determinations that are essentially identical except for the absolute stereochemistry. However, there seems to be some confusion in the literature concerning these structure determinations of asarinin and also those of its stereoisomer sesamin. The molecular structure of racemic asarinin differs from that of the pure enantiomers in the orientation of one ring system. In the packing of the racemate, molecules are linked by C-H...O interactions to form ribbons parallel to [101].

Lagomorph cranial biomechanics and the functional significance of the unique fenestrated rostrum of leporids.

Anat Rec (Hoboken)

March 2025

Department of Musculoskeletal and Ageing Sciences, Institute of Life Course and Medical Science, University of Liverpool, UK.

The crania of leporid lagomorphs are uniquely fenestrated, including the posterior cranial bones and the lateral portion of the maxilla. The functional significance of the highly fenestrated rostrum has received considerably little attention, despite being absent in other mammalian herbivores with a long rostrum. This unique feature is of particular interest when considering functional relationships between the loading regime and cranial structure.

Tether-Directed Electrosynthesis of Bicyclic [60]Fullerene Derivatives Fused with 5-Membered Azacycle and 13-Membered Carbocycle.

Key Laboratory of Functional Molecular Solids, Ministry of Education, Anhui Laboratory of Molecule-Based Materials, and School of Chemistry and Materials Science, Anhui Normal University, Wuhu, Anhui 241002, P. R. China.

Tether-directed electrosynthesis of [60]fullerene derivatives fused with 5-membered azacycle and 13-membered carbocycle, that is, bicyclic 1,4,9,12- and 1,2,4,15-adducts, has been achieved unexpectedly for the first time. The novel bicyclic [60]fullerene derivatives are obtained by the electrochemical reduction of [60]fullerene-fused indolines or lactams and subsequent regioselective cyclization with 2,2″-bis(bromomethyl)-1,1':3',1″-terphenyl. The product structures have been characterized by spectroscopic data and single-crystal X-ray analysis.

Traditional perspectives on occupational structure often emphasize hierarchical and socio-economic dimensions, typically reducing it to a one-dimensional framework. As noted in much previous research, this simplification may overlook the complexity of critical social issues. We argue that occupational structure is inherently continuous and multidimensional.

Unveiling the aroma retention secrets in roasted ducks: Structural properties and formation mechanisms of micro-nano particles of aroma-containing compounds.

Food Res Int

April 2025

Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing 100193, PR China; Integrated Laboratory of Processing Technology for Chinese Meat and Dish Products, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Beijing 100193, PR China. Electronic address:

The study aimed to investigate changes in morphology, structural properties, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and interbinding mechanisms of the micro-nano particles of aroma-containing compounds (MNPs-ACCs) in roasted ducks subjected to different roasting times (0, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 min) with varied filtration scales (centrifugation, microfiltration, and ultrafiltration). The presence of MNPs-ACCs in roasted ducks was confirmed by the Tyndall effect, scanning electron microscopy, and electronic nose. These particles showed negative charge, increased size and ζ-potential, and decreased dispersion index with roasting times.
