Background: A significant shift toward virtual care has occurred for many patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To date, there are no prospective studies assessing patients visits across different styles of appointments.

Background And Aims: An appendectomy for appendiceal inflammation has been suggested to ameliorate the clinical course of patients with ulcerative colitis [UC]. In contrast, for Crohn's disease [CD] an inverse association has been suggested with a higher incidence of CD and worse prognosis after appendectomy. The aim of this study was to analyse the clinical relevance of an inflamed appendix in CD patients undergoing ileocaecal resection [ICR].

Objective: Braak's hypothesis states that Parkinson's disease (PD) originates in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and similar associations have been established for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and cerebrovascular diseases (CVD). We aimed to determine the incidence of GI syndromes and interventions preceding PD compared with negative controls (NCs), AD and CVD.
Design: We performed a combined case-control and cohort study using TriNetX, a US based nationwide medical record network.

Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark.
Background: The aim of this study was to examine the association between appendectomy and advanced colorectal neoplasia (aCRN) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Methods: Inflammatory bowel disease patients diagnosed in Denmark in the period 1977 to 2017 were identified from the Danish National Patient Registry. Inflammatory bowel disease patients who underwent appendectomy were matched with up to 10 IBD patients without appendectomy and followed until aCRN, death, or emigration.

Background: Appendiceal mucocele (AM) is a rare disease, manifested by accumulation of mucus in appendiceal lumen. The role of ulcerative colitis (UC) in the occurrence of appendiceal mucocele is not known. However, it is suggested that AM may be a presentation of colorectal cancer in IBD patients.
