Background: Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency is a rare life-threatening inborn error of neurotransmitter biosynthesis. It is characterized by deficient biosynthesis of neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, leading to catecholamines deficiency and sympathetic deprivation, while the parasympathetic system remains functional. Since 2012, gene therapy has led to clinical improvements in symptoms and motor function with a severe phenotype.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of esketamine-based patient-controlled intravenous analgesia following total hip arthroplasty.
Methods: A total of 135 total hip arthroplasty patients were randomly assigned to one of the three treatment groups: esketamine, sufentanil or continuous fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) group. The primary endpoint was the postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) pain scores at rest and on movement.

Introduction: Patient positioning for spinal anaesthesia in patients with femur fracture is extremely painful and various methods have been tried to reduce mobilisation pain.
Aim: To compare the analgesic efficacy of intravenous dexmedetomidine, ketamine and femoral nerve block in patients posted for fractured femur for alleviating the positional pain before spinal anaesthesia.
Materials And Methods: A total of 75 patients (25 per group) of American Society of Anaesthetists Grade I-III patients of age group 18-80 years with fractured femur scheduled for elective surgery.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) presents significant challenges in neonatal management, particularly in the context of anesthesia. This case report details the successful anesthetic management of a five-day-old neonate with left-sided CDH requiring thoracoscopic repair. A five-day-old neonate, delivered via emergency cesarean section due to breech presentation, presented with severe respiratory distress and was diagnosed with left-sided CDH.

Sub-anesthetic ketamine has been demonstrated to reduce abnormal involuntary movements (AIMs) in preclinical models of L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia (LID) and retrospective Parkinson's disease (PD) case reports. In this study, we examined the effects on LID of two different statins alone and in combination with ketamine in unilateral 6-hydroxydopamine-lesioned male rats, the standard model for preclinical LID studies. Ketamine attenuated the development of AIMs, while the non-polar lovastatin only showed anti-dyskinetic activity early in the priming period but did not prevent the development of LID, and the polar pravastatin showed no anti-dyskinetic activity.
