Objective: To evaluate the activity of interleukin-2 (IL-2) in combination with allogeneic large multivalent immunogen (LMI) vaccine, prepared by immobilizing SK23-CD80 melanoma cell line plasma membrane on 5-μm-diameter silica beads, in patients with melanoma.
Methods: Twenty-one patients with metastatic melanoma were randomly assigned to an IL-2 alone control group or an IL-2 plus LMI vaccine treatment group. The primary objective was to evaluate the progression-free survival (PFS) of each group. Secondary clinical objectives included median overall survival (OS) and 1- and 2-year rates of OS.
Results: Treatment was very well tolerated. Median PFS was no different between the treatment arm (2.20 mo) and control arm (1.95 mo). Median OS was also similar for the treatment arm (11.89 mo) and control arm (9.97 mo).
Conclusions: This study failed to demonstrate that allogeneic LMI vaccine and low-dose IL-2 improved survival in patients with melanoma as compared with low-dose IL-2 alone.

This joint practice guideline/procedure standard was collaboratively developed by the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO), and the PET task force of the Response Assessment in Neurooncology Working Group (PET/RANO). Brain metastases are the most common malignant central nervous system (CNS) tumors. PET imaging with radiolabeled amino acids and to lesser extent [F]FDG has gained considerable importance in the assessment of brain metastases, especially for the differential diagnosis between recurrent metastases and treatment-related changes which remains a limitation using conventional MRI.

Background: Since the 2000's, plants have been used as bioreactors for the transient production of molecules of interest such as vaccines. To improve protein yield, "amplicon" vectors based on plant viruses are used. These viral constructs, engineered to carry the gene of interest replicate strongly once introduced into the plant cell, allowing significant accumulation of the protein.

Malaria in pregnancy has severe consequences for the mother and foetus. Antibody response to specific malaria vaccine candidates (MVC) has been associated with a decreased risk of clinical malaria and its outcomes. We studied Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) and Schistosoma haematobium (Sh) infections and factors that could influence antibody responses to MVC in pregnant women.

In Southeast Asia, despite the use of Japanese encephalitis vaccines and vaccination coverage, Japanese encephalitis (JE) transmission is still a major public health issue. The main vectors of this virus are mosquitoes from the genus Culex, which diversity and density are important in Southeast Asia. The main vector species of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) in Cambodia belong to the Vishnui subgroup.

Background: Human monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatments are promising for COVID-19 prevention or therapy. The pre-exposure prophylactic efficacy of neutralizing antibodies that are engineered with mutations to extend their persistence in human serum and the neutralizing antibody titer in serum required for protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection remain poorly characterized.
Methods: The Fc region of two neutralizing mAbs (COV2-2130 and COV2-2381) targeting non-overlapping epitopes on the receptor binding domain of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein was engineered to extend their persistence in humans and reduce interactions with Fc gamma receptors.
