Published: November 2012

Neuronal histamine is crucially involved in a number of physiological functions as well as in neuropsychiatric diseases. Determination of histamine in biological samples is thus of importance in the clinical studies. The aim of this review is to summarize the progress or effort made in this field, with focus on the high-performance liquid chromatography.

Electronic address:

Tropomyosin (TM), the primary allergen in crustacean aquatic products, has excellent thermal and digestive stability. In this work, the changes in digestive resistance of TM and allergenicity of TM digestion products induced by ultrasound-assisted cold plasma (UCP) treatment were investigated. The stability of TM to simulated digestion were reduced, especially the simulated intestinal fluid (SIF) digestive resistance.

Allergic rhinitis affects millions globally, causing significant discomfort and reducing the quality of life. This study investigates the metabolic alterations in murine mast cells (MC/9) under allergic rhinitis conditions induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation, employing UHPLC-QTOF-MS-based untargeted and targeted metabolomics. The analysis identified 44 significantly regulated metabolites, including histamine, leukotrienes, prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and ceramides.

Cry1A Insecticidal Toxins and Their Digests Do Not Stimulate Histamine Release from Cultured Rat Mast Cells.

Biology (Basel)

Public acceptance of genetically modified crops engineered with (Bt) insecticidal protein genes (BT-GMCs), which confer resistance to various lepidopteran insect pests, is generally lacking. As a major concern over BT-GMCs is the allergenicity of insecticidal proteins, alleviating safety concerns should help increase public acceptance. In this study, three lepidopteran-specific Bt toxins, Cry1Aa, Cy1Ab, and Cry1Ac, were treated with simulated digestive fluids under various conditions.
