AI Article Synopsis

  • The study examined how chlorpromazine behaves in the body after being infused intravenously in 25 children.
  • Findings showed that the pharmacokinetic parameters for children are significantly different from those observed in adults.
  • A strong correlation was found between age and two factors: how long the drug stays in the body (serum terminal half-life) and how quickly it's cleared (systemic clearance), indicating that children process chlorpromazine more quickly than adults.

Article Abstract

The pharmacokinetics of chlorpromazine after intravenous infusion were studied in 25 children. The pharmacokinetic parameters studied are markedly different from those reported for adults. A clear relationship was demonstrated between age, serum terminal half-life (r = 0.75) and systemic clearance (r = -0.43). It appears that the pharmacokinetics of chlorpromazine are more rapid in children than in adults.

The NorA and TetK efflux pumps mediate resistance to fluoroquinolone and tetracycline antibiotics by actively extruding these compounds and reducing their intracellular concentrations. Consequently, intense research has focused on inhibiting these efflux mechanisms using antimicrobial agents derived from natural or synthetic sources. This study used Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) to analyze the various functional groups present in p-coumaric acid.

Ferulic acid (FA) is a phenolic compound obtained naturally and is a versatile antioxidant identified for its potential in managing hypertension. However, its application is constrained due to its classification as a BCS Class IV moiety. To address this, we concentrated on improving its solubility and permeability by developing nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) of FA using emulsification probe sonication technique.

Objective: To explore the possible mechanism of absorption of iron oxide nanoparticles into the human body through the gastrointestinal tract.

Methods: This article used Caco-2 monolayer cells as a cell model, prepared characterized iron oxide nanoparticles(Fe_2O_3 NPs) as suspensions, and intervened in Caco-2 cells. CCK-8 method, transwell method, and atomic spectrophotometer method were used to explore the effect of Fe_2O_3 NPs on the activity of Caco-2 cells and the absorption and transport of them through the Caco-2 monolayer cell model.

Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient-Ionic liquids (API-ILs) have the potential to improve the bioavailability of BCS Class IV Drugs. However, the problematic physical handling properties of room temperature API-ILs have impaired clinical and commercial exploitation to date. Lipid-based formulations (LBFs) are used to improve the absorption of drugs with limited bioavailability.

Objective: The objective of current research is to design, develop, and optimize a cilnidipine (CLN) nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC)-based drug delivery system for the effective treatment of hypertension (HT).

Significance: Oral administration of CLN-loaded NLC (CLN NLC) containing glyceryl monostearate (GMS) as a solid and isopropyl myristate (IPM) as a liquid lipid may show remarkable lymphatic uptake through payer patches.

Methods: The emulsification probe sonication technique was used followed by optimization using 3 factorial designs.
