Beamforming of plane-wave ultrasound echo signals in the Fourier domain provides fast and accurate image reconstruction. Conventional implementations perform a k-space interpolation from the uniform sampled grid to a nonuniform acoustic dispersion grid. In this paper, we demonstrate that this step can be replaced by a nonuniform Fourier transform. We study the performance of the nonuniform fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) in terms of signal-to-noise ratio and computational cost, and show that the NUFFT offers an advantage in the trade-off between speed and accuracy, compared with other frequency-domain beamforming strategies.

Bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) and a polysaccharide (SUP) were embedded in the calcium phosphate cement (CPC) scaffold, and the bone repair ability was evaluated. The new scaffolds were characterized using x-ray diffraction, Fourier transform-infrared, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy analyses. CPC-BMP2-SUPH scaffold promoted the BMP-2 release by 1.

The degree of sulfonation (DS) is a key property of sulfonated polymers, as it significantly influences their swelling behaviour, conductivity and mechanical properties. Accurately determining the DS is essential for optimizing these materials for various applications. In this work, the DS of sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) was evaluated using a combination of analytical techniques, including titration, back titration, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Ultra-Violet (UV) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H NMR) spectroscopies, Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Rutherford backscattering (RBS) and particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE) analysis.

Hydrophilic coating embolism (HCE) is a rare and underreported complication in neurointerventional practice that can lead to serious medical consequences. Two endovascular procedures were interrupted at our institution after a cloudy liquid content was observed inside the rotating hemostatic valves (RHV) during microcatheter withdrawal. In both cases, the same type of microcatheter (Prowler Select Plus) and RHV (Merit) were being used, and coating dislodgement was suspected.

This work represents a comprehensive study of the ground vibrational state of C-13 substituted methanol using very high-resolution far-infrared (FIR) and infrared (IR) Synchrotron Radiation spectra recorded with a very high signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio in the entire region from 40to5000cm, at the Canadian Light sources. High resolution combined with a high S/N ratio allowed the recording to be done with an unprecedented resolution of about 0.0017cm.

Pollution is one of the main factors that threaten biodiversity nowadays. Plastic waste is a global problem which impacts not only on the marine environment but also on the terrestrial one. Great amounts of this kind of refuse are compiled in landfills, where lots of avian species feed.
