A disposable immunosensor based on electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) was developed for the detection of Enterobacter sakazakii. First, the graphene was deposited on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) by an electrochemical method. Second, the horseradish peroxidase-labeled bacteria-specific antibody was assembled onto the modified electrode to enhance the sensitivity of the immunosensor. The immunosensor constructed in this study can sensitively and rapidly detect E. sakazakii, and this method may contribute to further foodborne pathogen detection. In addition, this ERGO-modified SPCE could also provide new insights into the development of immunosensors for other bacteria to facilitate rapid detection.

Accurate quantification of specific biomarkers is essential for clinical diagnosis and evaluating therapeutic efficacy. A self-signal-amplifying poly(acrylic acid) (PAA)/polyaniline (PANI) film-modified disposable and cost-effective screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) has been developed for constructing new label-free immunosensors targeting two model biomarkers: human immunoglobulin G (IgG) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). The electrochemically deposited PAA/PANI film on the SPCE serves a dual function: both a bio-immobilization support and a signal amplifier, enhancing biomarker detection sensitivity and efficiency.

This study describes the development of a simple, disposable, and eco-friendly electrochemical immunosensor for rapid detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Electrochemical devices were manufactured by stencil-printing using low-cost materials such as polyester sheets, graphite flakes, and natural resin. The immunosensor comprises gold nanoparticles stabilized with cysteamine, glutaraldehyde, anti-SARS-CoV-2 S protein monoclonal antibody (Ab1) as the biological receptor, and bovine serum albumin as a protective layer.
