Brushite was synthesized by precipitation of calcium chloride (CaCl(2)) and sodium phosphate monobasic (Na(2)HPO(4)) dried in vacuum and monetite was obtained from this brushite by sonication with a frequency of 90kHz at 500W for 90min. Monetite itself was also transformed in Ca(H(2)PO(4))(2)·H(2)O, monocalcium phosphate monohydrate (MCPM), by sonication with a frequency of 90kHz at 500W for 60min followed by lyophilization. The MCPM was sonicated and lyophilized by three times more until reach over 240min, but any other phase transformation was observed. All these phase transformations were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) indicated a grain size of about 200nm in all the samples. The morphology observed was a corn-flake-like grain for brushite, a pseudo-needle-like grains for monetite, and lamellar-like grains for MCPM.

In order to make use of the large biomass of tomato plant to fulfill the purpose of remediating-while-producing, two commercial tomato varieties, 'Baiguoqiangfeng' (BG) and 'Ouguan' (OG) were grown in Cd contaminated acidic soil to compare their performance on Cd phytoextraction, and monocalcium phosphate (Ca) was foliar applied to reduce their fruit Cd concentration. The results showed that the BG was a more Cd tolerant variety, comparing with OG, it suffered lighter tissue peroxidation and photosynthesis obstacle, owning weaker amino acid metabolism, secondary metabolism and stress signal transduction under Cd stress. The Ca application reduced its ABA level but increased the GSH, IAA, ZR and GA3 level, and enhanced its lysine degradation, tyrosine metabolism, alanine, asparagine and glutamate metabolism, plant hormone signal transduction and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis under Cd stress.

This investigation developed new composite bone cements using urethane dimethacrylate (UDMA), poly(propylene glycol) dimethacrylate (PPGDMA), and hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), with micrometer-sized aluminosilicate glass filler. Monocalcium phosphate monohydrate (MCPM) and hydroxyapatite (HA) particles were added to enhance biological performance, particularly osteo-immunomodulation. Free radical polymerization was triggered by mixing two pastes containing either benzoyl peroxide (BPO, an initiator) or N-tolyglycine glycidyl methacrylate (NTGGMA, an activator).

Phosphorus (P) is an essential mineral for all forms of life including laying hens, playing a crucial role in growth and efficient egg production. Recent studies suggest that current P recommendations might exceed the physiological demand, leading to unnecessarily high P excretions. This study on Lohmann Brown (LB) and Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL) laying hens (n=80; 10 replicates per strain, production period, and dietary group) investigates transcriptional changes in the jejunum, a critical intestinal segment for mineral absorption, in response to a diet either without (P-) or with (P+) a mineral supplement from monocalcium phosphate, administered over a 4-week period during the transition (15-19 weeks) or onset of laying (20-24 weeks).

The objective of this study was to characterize intestinal phytate degradation and mineral utilization by 2 laying hen strains before and after the onset of egg laying using diets without or with a mineral phosphorus (P) supplement. One offspring of 10 roosters per strain (Lohmann Brown-classic [LB] and Lohmann LSL-classic [LSL]) was sacrificed before (wk 19) and after (wk 24) the onset of egg-laying activity and following 4 wk placement in a metabolic unit.
