Objective: Photosensitivity occurs in ~75% of lupus patients. Although ultraviolet light radiation (UVR) stimulates Type I interferon (IFN-I) in the skin, how UVR induced skin inflammation leads to downstream effects is poorly understood. Tissue inflammation causes DC to migrate from organs to draining lymph nodes (dLN) including a recently identified inflammatory DC subset (inf cDC2) that are potent antigen presenting cells.

Urinary catheters are commonly used in medical practice to drain and monitor urine of patients. However, urinary catheterisation is associated with the risk of developing catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), which can result in life-threatening sepsis that requires antibiotics for treatment. Using the layer-by-layer (LbL) technique, we assembled a multilayer catheter comprising nine quadruple layers (9QL) of alginate, chlorhexidine (CHX), alginate and poly(β-amino ester) (PBAE) built upon an amino-functionalised silicone.

The continuous scaling down of MOSFETs is one of the present trends in semiconductor devices to increase device performance. Nevertheless, with scaling down beyond 22 nm technology, the performance of even the newer nanodevices with multi-gate architecture declines with an increase in short channel effects (SCEs). Consequently, to facilitate further increases in the drain current, the use of strained silicon technology provides a better solution.

Mobile genetic elements are key to the global emergence of antibiotic resistance. We successfully reconstructed the complete bacterial genome and plasmid assemblies of isolates sharing the same carbapenemase gene to understand evolution over time in six confined hospital drains over five years. From 82 isolates we identified 14 unique strains from 10 species with 113 carrying plasmids across 16 distinct replicon types.
