A 49-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with complaints of fatigue, epistaxis and a skin rash. The whole blood count revealed isolated thrombocytopenia (4,000/mL), and the patient was admitted to the hematology department with a diagnosis of immune thrombocytopenia. He did not respond to steroid treatment for 15 days, and a subfebrile fever developed during this period. A diagnosis of acute brucellosis was considered due to positive serological tests and a blood culture positive for Brucella spp. After starting doxycycline and rifampicin therapy, the patient's thrombocyte count increased to 15,000/mL on the third day, to 41,000/mL on the sixth day and was normal on the 21st day of treatment. A diagnosis of brucellosis must be considered in patients presenting with severe and isolated thrombocytopenia in countries where brucellosis is endemic.

Introduction: This study aims to utilize proteomics, bioinformatics, and machine learning algorithms to identify diagnostic biomarkers in the serum of patients with acute and chronic brucellosis.
Methods: Proteomic analysis was conducted on serum samples from patients with acute and chronic brucellosis, as well as from healthy controls. Differential expression analysis was performed to identify proteins with altered expression, while Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) was applied to detect co-expression modules associated with clinical features of brucellosis.

Objective: Brucellosis is a multisystem infectious disease and may cause an increase in acute phase reactants. This study aimed to examine the platelet mass index (PMI), the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in children with brucellosis and to determine their roles in focal involvement.
Methods: This retrospective observational study included 69 patients with brucellosis and a control group of 69 healthy children.

In January 2021, the Gulf Health Council (GHC), established the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (Gulf CDC) in Riyadh, marking a pivotal step in harmonizing health strategies, enhancing knowledge generation, and promoting evidence-based approaches to both communicable (CD) and non-communicable diseases (NCD). The Gulf CDC's mission includes consolidating the region's health information systems, crucial for monitoring disease burden and shaping effective public health policies. An initial assessment of public health surveillance systems across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states was conducted by the Gulf CDC.

This report outlines a unique case of neurobrucellosis that resulted in acute transverse myelitis (TM) with absent deep reflexes and negative Wright's reaction. In endemic regions, neurobrocellosis should be considered as a potential etiology of acute TM.

Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease that causes high rates of morbidity and mortality due to difficulties in diagnosis and inadequate treatment. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic significance of presepsin, trigger receptor expressed on soluble myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1), and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) levels in patients with brucellosis. One hundred twenty-one brucellosis patients aged 18 or over and 39 healthy volunteers were included in this prospective study.
