Background: Right ventricular (RV) function plays a pivotal role in advanced heart failure patients, especially for screening those who may benefit from left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. We introduce RV contraction pressure index (RVCPI) as a new echo-Doppler parameter of RV function. The accuracy of RVCPI in detecting RV failure was compared with the criterion standard, the RV stroke work index (RVSWI) obtained through right heart catheterization in advanced heart failure patients referred for heart transplantation or LVAD implantation.
Methods And Results: Right heart catheterization and echo-Doppler were simultaneously performed in 94 consecutive patients referred to our center for advanced heart failure (ejection fraction (EF) 24 ± 8.8%, 40% NYHA functional class IV). RV stroke volume and invasive pulmonary pressures were used to obtain RVSWI. Simplified RVCPI (sRVCPI) was derived as TAPSE × (RV - right atrial pressure gradient). Close positive correlation between sRVCPI and RVSWI was found (r = 0.68; P < .001). With logistic regression, we found that increased sRVCPI showed an independent reduced risk (odds ratio 0.98, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.97-0.99; P = .016) for patients to present a depressed RVSWI (<0.25 mm Hg/L·m(2)). Simplified RVCPI showed high diagnostic accuracy (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve 0.94, 95% CI 0.89-0.99) and good sensitivity and specificity (92% and 85%, respectively) to predict depressed RVSWI with the use of a cutoff value of <400 mm·mm Hg.
Conclusions: In patients with advanced heart failure, the new simple bedside sRVCPI closely correlated with RVSWI, providing an independent, noninvasive, and easy tool for the evaluation of RV function.

Background: The PASCAL P10 system for mitral valve transcatheter edge-to-edge repair has undergone iterations, including introduction of the narrower Ace implant and the Precision delivery system.
Objectives: The study sought to evaluate outcomes and the impact of PASCAL mitral valve transcatheter edge-to-edge repair device iterations.
Methods: The REPAIR (REgistry of PAscal for mltral Regurgitation) study is an investigator-initiated, multicenter registry including consecutive patients with mitral regurgitation (MR) treated from 2019 to 2024.

Purpose To explore the diffusion characteristics of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) using in vivo cardiac diffusion-tensor imaging (cDTI) and to determine whether cDTI could help identify abnormal myocardium beyond cardiac MRI findings of fibrosis and hypertrophy. Materials and Methods In this prospective study conducted from April to August 2023, participants with HCM and healthy volunteers were enrolled for cardiac MRI evaluation, including cine, late gadolinium enhancement (LGE), T1 mapping, and cDT imaging, using a 3.0-T scanner.

Current imaging and clinical markers are not fully sufficient in accurate diagnosis and patient risk stratification. Although known cardiac biomarkers in blood are used, they lack specificity for HCM and primarily stratify for death due to heart failure in overt cases.

Intricate crosstalk among various lung cell types is crucial for orchestrating diverse physiological processes. Traditional two-dimensional and recent three-dimensional (3D) assay platforms fail to precisely replicate these complex communications. Many lung models do not effectively reflect the multicellular complexity of lung tissue.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) offers significant benefits in symptom alleviation, reduction of rehospitalization rates, and overall survival of patients with heart failure (HF) with reduced ejection fraction (rEF). However, despite its proven efficacy, precisely identifying suitable CRT candidates remains a challenge, with a notable proportion of patients experiencing non-response. Accordingly, many attempts have been made to enhance patient selection, and to identify the best imaging parameters to predict the response and survival after CRT implantation.
