Balance is crucial for various athletic tasks, and accurately assessing balance ability among elite athletes using simple and accessible measurement methods is a significant challenge in sports science. A common approach to balance assessment involves recording center of pressure (CoP) displacements using force platforms, with various indicators proposed to distinguish subtle balance differences. However, these indicators have not reached a consensus, and it remains unclear whether these analyses alone can fully explain the complex interactions of postural control.

The pollution index is a helpful tool for assessing the quality of groundwater. To assess the water quality in the southern segment of Barmer District (Rajasthan), India, we collected 20 samples of groundwater from the post-monsoon 2021 and pre-monsoon 2022 periods. Physicochemical parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total hardness, Cl, SO, F, NO, total dissolved solids, Ca, and Mg were analyzed.

Optimizing woodcutting with zirconia-toughened alumina: Processing, performance, and industrial insights.

Heliyon

January 2025

Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa), Laboratory for High Performance Ceramics, 8600, Dübendorf, CH, Switzerland.

Since the 1950s, the woodcutting industry has relied heavily on tungsten carbide (WC) cutting tools to overcome the challenges posed by the complex structure of wood, including hard knots and abrasive elements such as sand and tannic acids. These demands require cutting tools with superior thermal conductivity and mechanical properties. However, the rising cost of WC materials has prompted the search for alternative solutions.

Introduction: Traumatic patients with cervical spine motion restriction have difficulty with endotracheal intubation (ETI) due to the limitations of neck movement and mouth opening. Nevertheless, the removal of the cervical collar for ETI in a prehospital setting may lead to a deterioration in neurological outcomes. This study compares the success rate of ETI utilizing a video laryngoscope (VL) on a manikin, contrasting manual in-line stabilization (MILS) without a cervical hard collar against full immobilization.

Integration of circulating tumor DNA in biliary tract cancer: the emerging landscape.

Hepat Oncol

December 2024

Gastrointestinal Malignancies Section, Thoracic & GI Malignancies Branch, Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD 20892, USA.

Precision medicine has emerged as a cornerstone in cancer treatment revolutionizing our approach across malignancies. Molecular profiling of biliary tract cancers (BTCs) has changed the treatment landscape positively by prolonging survival in an aggressively fatal malignancy in its advanced stages. The acquisition of tissue tumor DNA for genomic analysis in BTC is often anatomically challenging, limited by quantity and quality.
