Fat talk refers to negative body-related conversations between girls or young women. This research aimed to use qualitative data from young women to guide development of a quantitative fat talk measure. In Study 1, a preliminary 62-item questionnaire was developed and administered to 200 female participants. Item analysis resulted in the elimination of items, yielding a final questionnaire with 14 items. Principal components analysis of this questionnaire indicated a single factor. In Study 2, 95 female participants completed the newly developed Fat Talk Questionnaire and theoretically related (e.g., body image) and unrelated (e.g., social desirability) constructs. Additionally, 49 male participants completed the questionnaire to examine known groups validity. In Study 3, 54 participants completed the Fat Talk Questionnaire on two occasions to assess temporal stability. The results showed that the Fat Talk Questionnaire is reliable and valid. The Fat Talk Questionnaire may have important utility in future research.

Background & Aims: Dilated intercellular space (DIS) in esophageal epithelium, a sign of impaired barrier function, is a characteristic finding of GERD that also is found in obese patients without GERD. We have explored molecular mechanisms whereby adipose tissue products might impair esophageal barrier integrity.
Methods: We established cultures of visceral fat obtained during foregut surgery from obese and non-obese patients.

Steatotic liver disease (SLD) and Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) are characterised by a substantial rewiring of lipid fluxes caused by systemic metabolic unbalances and/or disrupted intracellular metabolic pathways. SLD is a direct consequence of the interaction between genetic predisposition and a chronic positive energy balance affecting whole-body energy homeostasis and the function of metabolically-competent organs. In this review, we discuss how the impairment of the cross-talk between peripheral organs and the liver stalls glucose and lipid metabolism, leading to unbalances in hepatic lipid fluxes that promote hepatic fat accumulation.

Objective: The senescence of smooth muscle is one of the independent risk factors in atherosclerosis progression in which the vascular inflammation plays an important role on vascular dysfunction. This study is designed to explore the novel vascular aging biomarkers and screen the potential molecular interventional targets through bioinformatic analysis.
Results: Transcriptional analysis was conducted based on the GSE16487 open access database, which included 15 human vascular tissue samples from two groups: young group (≤ 60 years old, n = 8) and aged group (≥ 75 years old, n = 7).

Neuroplasticity is well established in low grade glioma patients. Less is known about functional plasticity in glioblastomas. A 56-year-old lady presented with a recurrent speech deficit seventeen months after her initial craniotomy for a language eloquent glioblastoma (GBM).

Background: Body shaming, a pervasive issue, has severe psychological and societal repercussions, particularly for early adolescents. This study addresses the gap in understanding body shaming in smaller urban settings such as Jember City, often overlooked in favour of larger metropolitan areas.
Aim: The study aimed to investigate the psychological effects, trigger factors and potential preventive measures of body shaming among junior high school students in Jember City.
