The classification of betanodavirus into four species was reviewed including newer and well-characterised isolates. Six major clusters were identified, four of which were similar to the classic species. Two single isolate clusters were worth consideration as new species.

The biting midges Latreille, 1809 (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) is highly relevant to epidemiology and public health, as it includes species that are potential vectors of human and animal arboviruses. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of RNA viruses in species of the genus collected in the Carajás mining complex in the state of Pará. The biting midges were collected in the municipalities of Canaã dos Carajás, Curionópolis and Marabá and morphologically identified.

plantations are of significant economic importance worldwide, primarily for chocolate production. During the harvest and processing of cocoa beans, they are subjected to fermentation either by microorganisms present in the environment (spontaneous fermentation) or the addition of starter cultures, with different strains directly contributing distinct flavor and color characteristics to the beans. In addition to fungi and bacteria, viruses are ubiquitous and can affect the quality of the fermentation process by infecting fermenting organisms, destabilizing microbial diversity, and consequently affecting fermentation quality.

Interferon-related developmental regulator 1 (IFRD1) is a viral responsive gene associated with interferon-gamma. Herein, we identified the IFRD1 gene (EaIFRD1) from red-spotted grouper (Epinephelus akaara), evaluated its transcriptional responses, and investigated its functional features using various biological assays. EaIFRD1 encodes a protein comprising 428 amino acids with a molecular mass of 48.
