Interruption of the inferior caval vein complicates device closure of atrial septal defects. We present a case where a simplified technique was used: from right jugular access the delivery system was directly engaged into the left atrium, where the entire septal occluder was deployed. Both discs were aligned with the interatrial septum, after which the right disc was recaptured and re-deployed in the right atrium under tension.

High-sensitive cardiac troponin T and NT-proBNP are associated with the left ventricular apical thickness in apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Eur J Med Res

January 2025

Department of Cardiology, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Shanghai, China.

Background: Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is a subtype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The expression level of high-sensitive cardiac troponin T (hs-cTNT) and N-terminal pro-BNP (NT-proBNP) in AHCM patients, and these relationships between echocardiography parameters were still unclear.

Methods: We retrospectively screened AHCM patients between January 2019 and December 2021 in Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University.

Multipath joint ablation strategy for focal atrial tachycardia originating from patent foramen ovale: a case report.

Front Cardiovasc Med

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Birth Defects and Related Diseases of Women and Children of MOE, Department of Pediatrics, West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Introduction: Focal atrial tachycardia (FAT) is predominant in the pediatric population. Recent research has identified cases of sustained FAT originating from the interatrial septum (IAS); a subset of cases presents a unique challenge, with foci originating from the peri-patent foramen ovale (peri-PFO), requiring specialized management during catheter ablation. Here, we present a rare case of peri-PFO-associated FAT that resulted in tachycardia-related cardiomyopathy and propose a comprehensive multipath joint strategy for the successful treatment of PFO-associated FAT.

Absent pulmonary valve syndrome, commonly linked with tetralogy of Fallot and ventricular septal defect, is a rare congenital condition. It is exceedingly rare to have an isolated absent pulmonary valve with an intact ventricular septum without cardiovascular shunt lesions, such as an atrial/ventricular septal defect or patent ductus arteriosus. This report presents a case of such rarity involving a young child with recurrent lower respiratory tract infections.

A 40-year-old man with a medical history of hepatitis B presented with abdominal distention and leg swelling. A computed tomography scan of the abdomen revealed cirrhosis and a large mass extending from the liver into the inferior vena cava and extending into the right atrium. A transthoracic echocardiogram revealed a large right atrial mass extending from the inferior vena cava with possible attachment to the interatrial septum.
