We present an overview of recent experimental investigations into the properties of strongly-confined water below the bulk freezing temperature. Under strong confinement, the crystallization of water is completely suppressed and the behavior of the confined liquid state can be measured at temperatures and pressures that are inaccessible to the bulk liquid. We focus on two phenomena that have recently been discovered in strongly confined water: the density minimum and the fragile-to-strong dynamic crossover. All experimental results seem to indicate that confined water undergoes a unique kind of transition below the bulk homogeneous nucleation limit. Much of the recent work on deeply-cooled water under strong confinement has been motivated by the liquid-liquid critical point (LLCP) hypothesis. We discuss this hypothesis in the context of the various experimental findings.

Using a large health insurance database in Japan, we examined the real-world usage of budesonide enteric-coated capsules (BUD) in treating Crohn's disease. We analyzed data from the Japan Medical Data Center claims database for Crohn's disease patients prescribed BUD from April 2016 to March 2021, focusing on prescription status, adverse events (AEs), monitoring tests, and concomitant medications over 2 years following BUD initiation. Patients were categorized into two groups based on BUD usage duration: ≤1 year and >1 year.

Loess is extensively developed on both sides of the Longwu River, a tributary of the Yellow River, Tongren County, Qinghai Province. The engineering geological characteristics are complex, and landslide disasters are highly developed. Based on field geological surveys and physical property analysis of the loess in this area, this study analyzes the influence of water content, consolidation pressure, and soil disturbance on the dynamic characteristics of loess using GDS dynamic triaxial tests.

Within the ITER project (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) an international project building a magnetic confinement device to achieve fusion as a sustainable energy source, tungsten (W) is planned to serve as a plasma-facing component (PFC) in the tokamak, a magnetic confinement device used to produce controlled thermonuclear fusion power. Post plasma-W interactions, submicron tungsten particles can be released. This study investigated the exposure of lentic freshwater ecosystems to ITER-like tungsten nanoparticles in indoor aquatic mesocosms.
