Twelve patients with idiopathic hemochromatosis have been studied. Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism with normal prolactin appears to be a most constant finding. Other hypophysal functions are preserved. A rapid exploration of such patients with LHRH-TRH and insulin tolerance test is proposed.

Purpose: Prolonged length of stay (PLOS) can lead to resource misallocation and higher complication risks. However, there is no consensus on defining PLOS for endoscopic transsphenoidal pituitary surgery (ETPS). Therefore, we investigated the impact of varying PLOS definitions on factors associated with PLOS in patients undergoing ETPS.

Pituitary adenomas are a diverse group of neoplasms with variable clinical behavior. Despite advances in genetic analysis, understanding the role of epigenetic modifications, particularly DNA methylation, remains an area under investigation. This scoping review aimed to update and synthesize the current body of literature on DNA methylation in pituitary adenomas, focusing on methodological advancements and clinical correlations.

GH Therapy in Non-Growth Hormone-Deficient Children.

Children (Basel)

December 2024

Research Area for Innovative Therapy in Endocrinology, Bambino Gesù Children Hospital, IRCCS, 00165 Rome, Italy.

Before 1985, growth hormone (GH) was extracted from human pituitaries, and its therapeutic use was limited to children with severe GH deficiency (GHD). The availability of an unlimited amount of recombinant GH (rhGH) allowed for investigating the efficacy of its therapeutic use in a number of conditions other than GHD. Nowadays, patients with Turner syndrome, deficiency, Noonan syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, idiopathic short stature, chronic kidney disease, and children born small for gestational age can be treated with rhGH in order to improve adult height.

Nutritional intake is closely linked to gonadal development, although the mechanisms by which food intake affects gonadal development are not fully understood. Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a satiety neuropeptide derived from the hypothalamus, and the present study observed that hypothalamic CCK expression is significantly influenced by food intake, which is mediated through blood glucose levels. Interestingly, CCK and its receptors were observed to exhibit a high expression in the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad (HPG) axis of grass carp (), suggesting that CCK is potentially involved in regulating fish reproduction through the HPG axis.

Background: Hypothyroidism is a common sequela after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has gained prominence in thyroid imaging, leveraging its non-ionizing radiation, high spatial resolution, multiparameter and multidirectional imaging. Few previous studies have investigated the evaluation of radiation-induced thyroid injury by MRI.
