Background: National response time targets for ambulance services are known to be more strongly maintained in urban areas compared to rural. That may mean that responses in rural areas could be less immediate which can in turn affect survival of those experiencing cardiac arrest. We describe a rare case of spontaneous remission of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) in a 42-year-old patient with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, followed by severe pulmonary nocardiosis. To our knowledge, this is the first report of spontaneous remission of PCP in a completely untreated patient with HIV infection. The patient, a bisexual Japanese man, presented with fever and anorexia and had a history of non-compliance with antiretroviral therapy (ART) for 13 years.

This study investigates the impact of twin intrahepatic cholestasis in pregnancy (ICP) in different chorionicity scenarios on pregnancy outcome and risk factors. This retrospective study was designed to investigate the association between ICP and pregnancy outcomes and associated risk factors. Logistic regression analysis was used to verify the correlation between ICP and pregnancy outcome and the associated risk factors with the risk of ICP.
