We introduce the concept of stabilization of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films using dicarboxylate supramolecular clips, as demonstrated by Langmuir isotherms, spectroscopic ellipsometry, atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and contact angle measurements.

The development of efficient methods for the synthesis of mechanically interlocked compounds is currently considered a major challenge in supramolecular chemistry. Twofold vinylogous fumaramides, a class of conjugated bis(enaminones), successfully achieve the assembly of hydrogen-bonded amide-based rotaxanes, with a templating ability comparable to that of their parent fumaramide-based systems, showcasing full conversions and impressive yields up to 92%. Computational calculations offer a compelling explanation for the remarkable efficiency of these bis(enaminones) in driving the synthesis of unprecedented rotaxanes.

Near-infrared phosphorescent materials have received significant attention due to their potential applications in bioimaging and diagnostics. Although, many types of organic phosphors with near-infrared emission have been developed, the low phosphorescence efficiency in aqueous solution hampers their practical applications in biological systems. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop near-infrared phosphorescent materials with high emission efficiency in aqueous media.
