A chronological study was made of the ultrastructural changes in peripheral nerves following inoculation of 1-day-old chicks with a neurogenic strain of Marek Disease virus. No virus particles were found in nerves. Cellular infiltration of nerves was detected as early as 5 days after inoculation and by 3 weeks some nerves contained proliferative lesions which possessed many of the ultrastructural features characteristic of normal, reactive lymphoid tissue. About 4 weeks after inoculation, coinciding with the onset of neurological signs, areas of widespread demyelination appeared within these lesions; lymphocytes and macrophages penetrated and destroyed the myelin sheath, but spared Schwann cells and most axons. Later oedematous, sparsely infiltrated B type lesions were observed, some of which contained demyelinated nerve fibres undergoing repair; these were therefore a stage in the regression of the proliferative lesions. Our observations do not favour the hypothesis that cellular infiltration of nerves in Marek's disease is the direct result of auto-sensitization to normal myelin. They are consistent with the hypothesis that demyelination is a secondary feature and that the primary lesions are preferential sites for immune demyelination.

Objective: This study examined the psychometric properties of a newly developed scale for measuring subjective cognitive reserve (SCR) across multiple domains, including nutrition, physical condition, sleep, cognition, willingness to learn, socialization, general health, and life plan.
Method: The relationship between SCR scores and other established measures of cognitive reserve and subjective cognitive decline was also explored. A sample of 402 healthy participants aged 18 to 79 years took part in the study.

Chronological age is not an accurate predictor of morbidity and mortality risk, as individuals' aging processes are diverse. Phenotypic age acceleration (PhenoAgeAccel) is a validated biological age measure incorporating chronological age and biomarkers from blood samples commonly used in clinical practice that can better reflect aging-related morbidity and mortality risk. The heterogeneity of age-related decline is not random, as environmental exposures can promote or impede healthy aging.

Inflammaging has long been linked to the pathogenesis of various aging-associated disorders, including cardiovascular disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dementia. Yet, the origins of inflammaging remain unclear. Although inflammatory dermatoses such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis predispose to the development of certain aging-associated disorders, suggesting a pathogenic role of cutaneous inflammation in these disorders, the great majority of aged humans do not have inflammatory dermatoses.
