Hemimandibular hyperplasia (HH) is a rare, self-limiting process manifesting between the first and third decades of life. HH causes facial asymmetry and derangement of the occlusion. Management involves resection of the condylar head and orthognathic surgery. This paper describes the case of a 38-year-old woman with spontaneous onset HH over a span of approximately 30 years. The condition was managed with resection of the condyle with simultaneous orthognathic surgery. The patient is currently satisfied with her appearance and function, and there are no signs of recurrence after 2 years.

Objectives: Unilateral condylar hyperplasia (UCH), marked by progressive condylar growth, occurs between ages 11-30 with unclear etiology. This retrospective study aims to clarify the clinical, radiographic, and demographic features of UCH to improve its diagnosis and treatment.
Material And Methods: Data for all patients included in this study were retrieved from the archive.
Aim: Condylar hyperplasia (CH) is a progressive and deforming disease that modifies anatomy of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) structures. This study aims to correlate the metabolic bone activity of the condyle measured by SPECT with the volumetry anatomic information from the condyle, fossa and joint space provided by CT images, in patients with CH in active and inactive forms.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional comparative study was performed with a set of 116 images from healthy and diagnosed CH patients to compare volumetric measures of the TMJ.

Growth disturbances of the temporomandibular Joint are characterized by mandibular asymmetry, sometimes with secondary maxillar disturbances. Although the clinical symptoms are sometimes quite severe, patients usually have no pain. There are several growth disturbances, but in this article we discuss three particular causes of facial asymmetry, namely hemimandibular growth defects; overdevelopment, underdevelopment and neoplasms of the mandibular joint.

A 34-year-old man presented with facial asymmetry and was diagnosed with left-sided hemimandibular hyperplasia. Orthognathic surgery and mandibular angle osteotomy combined with inferior alveolar nerve repositioning were performed with computer-aided design. The facial asymmetry was successfully corrected with acceptable cosmetic results.
