Recombinant formate dehydrogenase from the acetogen Clostridium carboxidivorans strain P7(T), expressed in Escherichia coli, shows particular activity towards NADH-dependent carbon dioxide reduction to formate due to the relative binding affinities of the substrates and products. The enzyme retains activity over 2 days at 4°C under oxic conditions.

Syngas fermentation using acetogenic bacteria offers a promising route for sustainable chemical production. However, gas-liquid mass transfer limitations and efficient co-utilization of CO and H pose significant challenges. This study investigated the kinetics of syngas conversion to acetate by Acetobacterium wieringae and Clostridium species in batch conditions under varying initial CO partial pressures (19 - 110 kPa).

This study compares carbon dioxide conversion in carbonate-fed microbial electrosynthesis (MES) cells operated at low (5.3), neutral (7) and high (8) pH levels and inoculated either with wild-type or bioaugmented mixed microbial populations. Two 100 mL (cathode volume) MES cells inoculated with anaerobic digester sludge were operated with a continuous supply of carbonate solution (5 g L as CO ).

The suppression of soil carbon mineralization has been demonstrated to be effectively facilitated by carbon‑iron interactions, yet the specific mechanisms by which artificial humic substances (A-HS) coupled with ferrihydrite influence this process remain insufficiently explored. This study is to investigate how the A-HS, specifically artificial fulvic acid (A-FA) and artificial humic acid (A-HA), coupled with ferrihydrite, affect carbon mineralization under anaerobic system that simulates paddy flooding conditions. The object is to investigate trends in carbon emissions and to delineate microbial community structure and functional pathways.
