A novel fabrication method of polymer tubes with simple operation process and high yield is presented. N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) polymer microtubes are fabricated via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization using MBA self-assembled fibers as both the template and monomer source. The resulting products are characterized by SEM, TEM, FTIR, and element analysis. The mechanical properties of the gel-like product and the MBA organogel are measured by rheometer. The morphology of the polymer tubes obtained via RAFT polymerization is compared with the sample obtained via conventional radical polymerization. Based on the current investigations, the fabrication mechanism of this method is initially proposed.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is increasingly recognized as a whole-organ disease predominantly affecting the elderly, characterized by typical alterations in subchondral bone and cartilage, along with recurrent synovial inflammation. Despite the availability of various therapeutics and medications, a complete resolution of OA remains elusive. In this study, novel functional hydrogels are developed by integrating natural bioactive molecules for OA treatment.

Development of novel Gd-based contrast agents for targeted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of liver cancer remains a great challenge. Herein we reported a novel Gd-based MRI contrast agent with improved relaxivity for specifically diagnosing liver cancer. This GSH-responsive macromolecular contrast agent (mCA), POLDGd, was prepared by RAFT polymerization, and its lactic acid moiety could precisely target the ASGP-R surface protein on liver cancer cells, whereas PODGd without the lactic acid moiety was prepared as a control.

Exosomes, the bioactive particles secreted by various cells, are essential in mediating cellular communication. However, their small size and the interference from non-exosome proteins present significant hurdles for their rapid and non-destructive capture and release. To overcome these obstacles, a promising strategy to efficiently and selectively isolate exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is developed by using CD63 aptamer-conjugated magnetic nanoparticles (FeO-Aptamer).

Janus graft copolymers, which combine the characteristics of block and graft copolymers, have been used in the fields of reaction catalysis, surface modification, and drug delivery, but their applications in lithium batteries have rarely been reported. Herein, Janus graft copolymers with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polystyrene (PS) side chains are synthesized by combining reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) methods and doped with lithium salts to fabricate Janus bottlebrush polymer electrolytes (PEG-J-PS). The PEG side chains of the brush polymers impart good ion-conducting properties to the electrolytes, while the PS side chains improve the mechanical strength and thermal and chemical stability of the electrolytes.

Although the glycosylation of viral proteins plays a critical role in the process of viral invasion into host cells, studies on the glycosylation of monkeypox virus (MPXV) structural proteins have not yet been reported. To investigate the importance of MPXV protein glycosylation, poly Ser-Arg (poly SR) materials capable of simultaneously enriching both -glycopeptides and -glycopeptides were synthesized by surface-initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (SI-RAFT) polymerization. The poly SR materials were evaluated using the digest mixture of standard proteins containing bovine fetuin and bovine serum albumin, and the digest of complex biological samples including bovine sperm tail lysate, mouse sperm tail lysate, mouse brain lysate, and human serum.
