Historically, diagnostic radiology residents have been allowed time off from clinical duties to study for the ABR oral board examination. This practice has resulted in a disruptive "board frenzy" at many programs. The new ABR examination structure gives programs an opportunity to evaluate this practice. This position statement of the Association of Program Directors in Radiology describes the rationale behind a recommendation of no time off from clinical service before the ABR core examination.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe purpose of this study was to identify whether NHS Trusts where discrimination in the delivery of care to patients from the South Asian community had been demonstrated had taken any actions to address the issue over the subsequent year. Freedom of information requests were sent to three trusts which had provided evidence of disparate provision of biologic therapy to patients with Crohn's disease, their associated Clinical Commissioning Groups and Healthwatch organisations to seek evidence whether they had remedied the situation. Requests were also sent to the Care Quality Commission, NHS Improvement and the Equality and Human Rights Commission seeking examples where they had responded to inequitable delivery of care related to ethnicity.

Introduction: An increasing number of UK residents are travelling overseas to access medical treatments, the negative health consequences of which are largely managed by NHS doctors.
Methods: This paper performs an ethical analysis, using the ethical framework of principlism, of the duties of NHS doctors in managing these negative health consequences of medical tourism overseas.
Findings: While the doctor's duty to respect patient autonomy contains a negative duty to not interfere with their choice to access medical treatment overseas, it also contains a positive duty to ensure this choice is informed.
