Aim: An experimental pain model which is sensitive and reproducible would be a useful pharmacological tool both for existing and new drugs. The aim of the present study was to establish a simple and reliable method of producing experimental pain which can be used for screening of analgesic agents.
Materials And Methods: The method was standardized by recording pain threshold and pain tolerance values in 24 healthy volunteers. Reproducibility of the test procedure was evaluated by recording the pain threshold and pain tolerance values by a single observer on two sessions (inter-day reproducibility), and second observer in one session (inter-observer reproducibility), separately. Validity of the model was further tested by evaluating the analgesic effect of tramadol in 12 healthy volunteers.
Results: Cold pain model was found to produce low variability with coefficient of variation less than 15%. Inter-observer and inter-day reproducibility was very good as shown by Bland - Altman plot with most of the values within ± 2SD. Analgesic activity by Tramadol was statistically different from placebo (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: The newly developed pain model offers a stable and sensitive method for the early assessment of analgesic activity.

Purpose: To explore and describe patients' experiences and perceptions of rehabilitation according to the rehabilitation model 'Prevention of sickness absence through early identification and rehabilitation of at-risk patients with musculoskeletal pain' (PREVSAM).
Method: A qualitative study was conducted, with individual semi-structured interviews analysed using qualitative content analysis. Fifteen patients from three primary care rehabilitation clinics in Sweden who had undergone rehabilitation based on the PREVSAM model participated.

Background: Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is a chronic pediatric illness, whereby youth experience physical, emotional and psychosocial challenges that result in reduced health related quality of life (HRQL). Peer mentoring has been shown to improve disease self-management in adults with chronic conditions, with mixed results in younger populations. Building on our pilot work - which supported the feasibility and initial effectiveness of the iPeer2Peer program - the objective of this study was to assess the clinical effectiveness of the program in youth with JIA through a waitlist randomized controlled trial.

Background: Standardized and systematic quality assessments of chronic pain management, particularly among older adult populations, are lacking in resource-limited community settings. A specific set of indicators to evaluate the quality of chronic pain management in this population has yet to be developed. Therefore, the present study constructed a set of indicators to assess the quality of chronic pain management in Chinese community-dwelling older adults, providing a standardized reference and guidance for community health centers to manage chronic pain in this population.

Background: Autoimmune disorders have primary manifestations such as joint pain and bowel inflammation but can also have secondary manifestations such as non-infectious uveitis (NIU). A regulatory health authority raised concerns after receiving spontaneous reports for NIU following exposure to Remicade, a biologic therapy with multiple indications for which alternative therapies are available. In assessment of this clinical question, we applied validity diagnostics to support observational data causal inferences.

Background: Immunochemotherapy is inevitably accompanied with treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs). However, TRAEs are typically assessed at a single time point, overlooking the complexity of TRAE trajectories over time. This study aimed to characterize TRAE trajectories during multi-cycle neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (nICT) and identify potential prognostic factors for patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
