A consortium of five distinct bacterial strains was evaluated for their ability to biodegrade multiple polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sewage sludge under microcosm studies. The presence of PAHs was determined from the sludge samples collected during pre- and post-monsoon seasons from three different wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Among the 16 PAHs found, the lowest concentration detected was 1.

Alginate lyases, which degrade alginate into oligosaccharides, have broad applications in biorefinery, biomedical, and industrial fields. The Polysaccharide Lyase Family 7 (PL7) is particularly notable for its alginate lyase activity. In this study, two novel alginate lyases, PmAlg7A and PmAlg7B, from Pseudomonas mendocina E03 were cloned, heterologously expressed, and characterized.

Dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) is an odor compound characterized by the lowest olfactory threshold and high toxicity. It is indispensable to explore the bacteria with high resistance and degradation efficiency to DMDS. Acinetobacter lwoffii, Pseudomonas mendocina, and Myroides odoratus were isolated from kitchen waste.

The Sundarbans mangrove, located at the mouth of the Ganges and Brahmaputra Rivers, is the world's largest tidal mangrove forest. These mangroves are also one of the most striking sources of microbial diversity, essential in productivity, conservation, nutrient cycling, and rehabilitation. Hence, the main objective of this study was to use metagenome analysis and provide detailed insight into microbial communities and their functional roles in the Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem.
