Left ventricular assist device thrombosis is a rare but potentially lethal complication of mechanical circulatory support. Here, we present a case of successful treatment of a suspected HeartMate II thrombosis with the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor, eptifibatide. The patient presented with signs and symptoms of heart failure, along with acute kidney injury and hemolytic anemia that did not respond to diuresis, inotrope support, or anticoagulation. Treatment with eptifibatide resulted in marked clinical and hemodynamic improvement within 24 hrs. The patient was transitioned to clopidogrel and discharged without further incident. Eptifibatide may represent a potential therapeutic option for patients with device thrombosis.

The fibroblastic sleeve is a structure potentially enveloping any intravascular device. At ultrasound scan, it typically presents as a thin layer of variably echogenic material covering the catheter surface, which usually tends to remain into the vessel after the catheter removal. However, several case reports have documented its migration toward the heart or pulmonary artery after a central venous catheter removal.

As the number of cerebral aneurysms treated with flow diverters continues to increase, it is important to understand what factors influence not only thrombus formation within the aneurysm cavity but also fibrin accumulation across the device and its associated disruption and blockage of the inflow stream. Both processes contribute to the eventual occlusion of the aneurysm or its continued patency and incomplete occlusion which may require future re-treatment. To investigate fibrin accumulation on flow diverters placed across the neck of cerebral aneurysms, a previously developed computational model that couples flow and fibrin dynamics is used in combination with experimental in vitro models of cerebral aneurysms treated with flow diverters.

Stress radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) has been well-established as a useful modality for assessing the status of the coronary circulation in post-coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) patients. CABG by itself escalates progression of atherosclerosis or thrombosis in bypassed native coronary arteries. In most cases MPI will be employed in post-CABG patients who are experiencing symptoms.

Background: Subclinical leaflet thrombosis (SLT) is a common complication after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Multidimensional CT (MDCT) is the main imaging mortality for the diagnosis of SLT but it enhances the risk of contrast-induced nephropathy. Our study aimed to use an innovative wearable acoustic cardiography (ACG) device to diagnose SLT as an alternative option.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided coronary intravascular lithotripsy and rotational atherectomy in treating severe coronary artery calcification.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 60 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from October 2022 to August 2023 was conducted. The patients were divided into two groups: 30 received IVUS-guided coronary intravascular lithotripsy and 30 underwent IVUS-guided rotational atherectomy.
