Objective: Laryngeal manifestations of stroke play a significant role in the morbidity and mortality among affected patients. The objective of this article was to describe unique myoclonic vocal fold movement disorder, which is an unusual post-stroke manifestation.
Study Design: A retrospective case study.
Setting: The study group included post-stroke patients with dysphagia who were referred to the Swallowing Clinic at Edith Wolfson Medical Center.
Subjects And Methods: All patients underwent flexible laryngoscopy and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing with sensory testing. The vocal fold movement was analyzed with the Sisson-Ammons video analysis system.
Results: Three post-pontine stroke patients presented with vocal fold myoclonus (VFM). The myoclonus was spontaneous, unintentional, and irregular (19-420 jerks per minute). Two patients presented with unilateral myoclonus, ipsilateral to the brainstem stroke. One patient, who experienced subsequent pontine strokes, presented with bilateral VFM. When patients were asked to swallow or phonate, the myoclonus disappeared.
Conclusion: Isolated VFM is an unusual manifestation of pontine injury, resulting in a sudden, involuntary, and non-rhythmic vocal fold movement. This laryngeal pathology is not associated with either dyspnea or dysphonia and most likely not with inefficient swallowing.

Background: Vocal fold leukoplakia (VFL), a precancerous lesion of the larynx, is characterized by white plaques on the vocal fold mucous membrane. Currently, there are no reliable biomarkers to predict the recurrence and malignant transformation of VFL. Considering chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan 4 (CSPG4) as a biomarker for malignant tumors such as laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC), we conducted this cohort study to evaluate the prognostic influence of CSPG4 expression on VFL patients.

: This study aimed to determine the positive predictive value of our NMD Suspicion Criteria in the diagnosis of NMDs. Other clinical factors routinely examined in our voice and swallowing examinations were also investigated to see if they had a significant association with the diagnosis of NMDs. : This study retrospectively investigated the medical charts of patients who visited our Voice and Swallowing outpatient clinic between 2013 and 2022.

: Arytenoid dislocation (AD) and subluxation (AS) impact vocal fold mobility, potentially affecting the quality of life. Their management, including the timing and modality of treatment, remains a subject of research. Our primary objective was to assess and compare the available treatment strategies for AS and AD.

Background: The Neonatal Resuscitation Program recommends direct laryngoscopy (DL) as the primary method for neonatal intubation. Video laryngoscopy (VL) is suggested as an option, particularly for training novice operators or for intubating infants with difficult airways. The programme outlines specific steps for intubation, including managing the external environment and techniques for visualising key anatomical landmarks.

Introduction: Therapy is a common treatment for dysphonia attributable to vocal fold atrophy and chronic cough with the goal of decreasing procedural intervention. We compared the rates of therapy adherence and the factors associated with therapy adherence across groups.
Methods: Retrospective chart review at a single institution since 2019.
