Empirical evidence indicates that the rate of wound healing varies through different seasons, where it is higher in spring and fall but lower in summer and winter, suggesting adequate temperatures may promote wound healing via an unknown mechanism. Here we show that adequate temperature facilitates wound healing by inducing the expression of Elongation of Very Long Chain Fatty Acid Elongase 4 (ELOVL4) that curtails the inflammation phase. Using skin injury and skin organoids models, bulk- and single-cell RNA-sequencing and spatial transcriptomics analysis, and functional perturbations, we first demonstrate that adjusting skin surface temperature to 20°C by contact cooling markedly increases the rate of wound healing via upregulating ELOVL4 in the injured epidermis.

Background: Chronic pelvic pain is a substantial clinical challenge that profoundly impacts quality of life for many women. The Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is a novel mind-body intervention designed to attenuate emotional arousal of distressing thoughts and pain. This study evaluated functional connectivity changes in key areas of the brain in patients with chronic pelvic pain receiving the NET intervention.

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in predicting the exposure of inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) during complicated mandibular third molars (M3M) extraction.
Methods: 115 M3Ms with canal cortical defect signs on preoperative CBCT were extracted. Candidate variables included sex, age, types of CBCT machine, the Winter classification of M3Ms, the size of root entering the canal on CBCT, the size of cortical defect on CBCT.

Background: Fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine are uncommon injuries in children and adolescents, but they carry substantial morbidity and a real risk of death. Compared with the adult spine, the pediatric spine has unique anatomic and biomechanical properties that yield different fracture patterns than the adult population. The mechanisms of injury and degree of skeletal maturity constitute important predictors of the outcomes of pediatric thoracic and lumbar fractures; however, there remains a paucity of meaningful epidemiologic data with specific attention to the pediatric spine.

Objective: Exposure to high temperatures was evaluated with regional climate data provided by the National Meteorological Service, applying occupational exposure parameters. Methods: The provinces were characterized during 2005-2023 with maximum, average and minimum temperatures, and daily humidity percentages. Days with dangerous temperatures were defined as 28ºC and 90% humidity.
