Aim: Care for people with spina bifida can be improved. This may be done by evaluating mortality rates and causes of death.
Methods: Between 1973 and 2021, 1735 people with spina bifida appeared in registers of the Swedish population.

Introduction: Self-inflicted injuries are the second leading cause of pediatric (10-18 y old) mortality. Self-inflicted firearm trauma (SIFT) was responsible for up to half of these deaths in certain age groups. We hypothesized that SIFT prevalence has increased and is associated with specific demographics, injury patterns, and outcomes.

Most of these injuries are caused by gunshots or stab wounds however the incidence of nail-gun injuries is rising due to their availability and widespread use. Introduction: Firearms and motor vehicle collisions (MVC) are leading causes of mortality in children. We hypothesized that firearm injuries would have a higher mortality than MVCs in children and a higher level of resource utilization METHODS: Trauma patients <18 years old at a Level 1 pediatric trauma center sustaining gunshot wounds (GSW) or MVCs 2009-2019 were included. The primary outcome was mortality.
