This paper introduces an experimental probe of the sterile neutrino with a novel, high-intensity source of electron antineutrinos from the production and subsequent decay of 8Li. When paired with an existing ∼1 kton scintillator-based detector, this

The Marcus semi-classical and quantum theories of electron transfer (ET) have been extensively used to understand and predict tunneling ET reaction rates in the condensed phase. Previously, the traditional Marcus two-state model has been extended to a three-state model, which assumes a harmonic dependence of donor (D), bridge (B), and acceptor (A) free energies on the reaction (e.g.

A novel dual-mode microfluidic sensing platform integrating photoelectrochemical (PEC) and fluorescence (FL) sensors was developed for the sensitive monitoring of heart fatty acid binding protein (h-FABP). First, BiVO/AgInS (BVAIS) composites with excellent photoelectric activity were synthesized as sensing matrices. The BVAIS heterojunction with a well-matched internal energy level structure provided a stable photocurrent.

Previously we found that in vitro the D-peptide D-TLKIVWC fragments tau fibrils from AD brains (AD-tau) into benign segments, whereas its six-residue analog D-TLKIVW cannot. However, the underlying fragmentation mechanism remains unknown, preventing the further development of this type of drug candidate for AD.

Aryl aldehydes are key synthetic intermediates in the manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients. They are generated on scale (>1000 kg) through the palladium-catalyzed formylation of aryl bromides using syngas (CO/H). The best-in-class catalyst system for this reaction employs di-1-adamantyl--butylphosphine (cataium A), palladium(II) acetate, and tetramethylethylenediamine.

The effective S-scheme homojunction relies on the precise regulation of band structure and construction of advantaged charge migration interfaces. Here, the electronic structural properties of g-C3N4 were modulated through meticulous polymerization of self-assembled supramolecular precursors. Experimental and DFT results indicate that both the intrinsic bandgap and surface electronic characteristics were adjusted, leading to the formation of an in-situ reconstructed homojunction interface facilitated by intrinsic van der Waals forces.
