Computed tomography (CT) is currently the diagnostic modality of choice in the evaluation of clinically stable patients with blunt abdominal trauma, including the assessment of blunt bowel and mesenteric injuries. CT signs of bowel and/or mesenteric injuries are bowel wall defect, free air, oral contrast material extravasation, extravasation of contrast material from mesenteric vessels, mesenteric vascular beading, abrupt termination of mesenteric vessels, focal bowel wall thickening, mesenteric fat stranding, mesenteric haematoma and intraperitoneal or retroperitoneal fluid. This pictorial essay illustrates CT features of bowel and/or mesenteric injuries in patients with blunt abdominal trauma. Pitfalls in interpretation of images are emphasized in proven cases.

Haemorrhagic cholecystitis is an uncommon cause of abdominal pain that can lead to significant morbidity and mortality if not promptly identified and treated. Known risk factors include trauma, anticoagulation use and cholelithiasis. In a patient with right upper quadrant pain after blunt trauma on anticoagulation without cholelithiasis, haemorrhagic acalculous cholecystitis should be considered in the differential diagnosis, as appeared to be the case in the patient we present here.

Introduction: Retroperitoneal hematoma with ongoing hemorrhage is a rare but critical condition following blunt abdominal trauma, requiring urgent evaluation and management. This case details a large retroperitoneal hematoma in the right iliac fossa caused by a rupture of the deep circumflex iliac artery (DCIA), successfully treated with transcatheter arterial embolization.
Case Description: A 66-year-old female presented to our hospital six hours after an electric tricycle accident with dizziness, fatigue, hypotension (80/50 mmHg), and tachycardia (105 beats/min).

The liver is the most common organ injury associated with blunt trauma. Blunt hepatic trauma, due to the high kinetic impact on the liver, causes compression and parenchymal disruption, leading to tears in its vascular structures. By contrast, gallbladder injury is rare because it is located beneath and shielded by the liver.
