Dosimetric Planning Comparison for Left Ventricle Avoidance in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Radiotherapy.

Cureus

December 2024

Physics and Engineering, London Regional Cancer Program, London, CAN.

Introduction: Radiation may unintentionally injure myocardial tissue, potentially leading to radiation-induced cardiac disease (RICD), with the net benefit of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) radiotherapy (RT) due to the proximity of the lung and heart. RTOG-0617 showed a greater reduction in overall survival (OS) comparing higher doses to standard radiation doses in NSCLC RT. VHeart has been reported as an OS predictor in the first- and fifth-year follow-ups.

Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) chronic high viral load (CHVL) may be defined by >16 000 copies/mL whole blood or >200 copies/10 peripheral blood mononuclear cells in >50% samples exceeding 6 mo. EBV CHVL has only been characterized in a few small pediatric studies, with heterogeneous results and unclear clinical significance.

Methods: This single-center observational study evaluated adult and pediatric kidney transplant recipients transplanted between 2010 and 2021 on tacrolimus/mycophenolate-based/prednisone immunosuppression.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate new software (Unfold AI) in the estimation of prostate tumour volume (TV) and prediction of focal therapy outcomes.

Subjects/patients And Methods: Subjects were 204 men with prostate cancer (PCa) of grade groups 2-4 (GG ≥ 2), who were enrolled in a trial of partial gland cryoablation (PGA) at UCLA from 2017 to 2022. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided biopsy (MRGB) was performed at diagnosis and at 6 and 18 months following PGA.

Background: Inflammation is a driver of thrombosis, but the phenomenon of thromboinflammation has been defined only recently, bringing together the multiple pathways involved. models can support the development of new therapeutics targeting the endothelium and also assess the existing immunomodulatory drugs, such as hydroxychloroquine, in modulating the inflammation-driven endothelial prothrombotic phenotype.

Objectives: To develop a model for thrombin generation (TG) on the surface of human endothelial cells (ECs) to assess pro/antithrombotic properties in response to inflammation.

Optimising the resilience of shipping networks to climate vulnerability.

Marit Policy Manag

July 2022

Liverpool Logistics, Offshore and Marine Research Institute, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK.

Climate extremes are threatening transportation infrastructures and hence require new methods to address their vulnerability and improve their resilience. However, existing studies have yet to examine the climate impacts on transportation networks systematically rather than independently assessing the infrastructures at a component level. Therefore, it is crucial to configure alternative shipping routes from a systematic perspective to reduce climate vulnerabilities and optimise the resilience of the whole shipping network.
