The utility of an external structure-directing agent to induce orthogonal H-bonding-mediated programmed supramolecular-assembly and gelation of an n-type NDI chromophore is reported. Further, the effect of π-stacking and morphology on electrical conductivity of semiconducting NDI building blocks is revealed.

Chinese herbal medicine has offered a great treasure for discovering intrinsically bioactive low molecular weight gelators (LMWGs). Herein, the two-component hydrogels comprising glycyrrhizic acid (GA) and puerarin (PUE), the primary bioactive components, respectively, from herbs and are successfully prepared. Combined spectroscopic characterizations reveal that hydrogen bonds are formed between GA and PUE molecules, which further drives the growth of nanofiber assemblies into gel networks.

Protein-based hydrogels are appealing materials for a variety of therapeutic uses because they are compatible, biodegradable, and adaptable to biological and chemical changes. Therefore, adherent varieties of hydrogels have received significant study; nevertheless, the majority of them show weak mechanical characteristics, transient adherence, poor biocompatibility activity, and low tensile strength. Here we are reporting, a two-component (BSA-gelatin) protein solution crosslinked with Tetrakis (hydroxymethyl) phosphonium chloride (THPC) to form a novel hydrogel.

A novel fluorescent π-gelator, incorporating a crown ether with host-guest recognition capability and a photoactive cyanostilbene unit, was designed. This unique structure enables the successful transition from a one-component gel to a two-component gel and exhibits gel-sol transition behaviors under heat, ions, and light stimuli.
