Objectives: Careful consideration of the pre-analytical process for urine examination is essential to avoid errors and support accurate results and decision-making. Our objective was to assess the impact of various pre-analytical factors on urine test strip and quantitative chemistry results, including stability, tube type, fill volume, and centrifugation.
Methods: Residual random urine specimens were identified.

Objective: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths in men worldwide. BRCA1/2 genes are reported altered in approximately 1% and 8% of PCa cases, respectively. To date, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues have a consolidate use in the clinical practice, but with a significant drawback related to DNA/RNA degradation during the pre-analytical process.

There is a pressing need for accessible biomarkers with high diagnostic accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis to facilitate widespread screening, particularly in underserved groups. Saliva is an emerging specimen for measuring AD biomarkers, with distinct contexts of use that could complement blood and cerebrospinal fluid and detect various analytes. An interdisciplinary, international group of AD and related dementias (ADRD) researchers convened and performed a narrative review of published studies on salivary AD biomarkers.

Background: Self-sampling is now a key component within HPV-based cervical screening programmes to engage individuals and enhance participation. As self-sampling is relatively new, information on the influence of pre-analytical parameters such as transit-temperature and time between sampling and testing on HPV test results requires detailed investigation.
Methods: FLOQSwabs® and Evalyn Brushes® were used to assess HPV and cellular stability over a 30-week period (0w,4w,12w,30w) at 4 °C, ambient, and 37 °C.

The diagnosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is extremely important for appropriate management. Cerebral computed tomography (CT), used as the first-line investigation to detect bleeding, has excellent sensitivity if performed promptly, but its sensitivity falls sharply with the time elapsed since the onset of SAH. Oxyhemoglobin and bilirubin, the breakdown products of heme, are detectable in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) by spectrophotometric absorption, which defines the search for xanthochromia pigment in CSF.
