In the health risk assessment of pesticides, methods for external exposure assessment have been well developed. However, quantifying the contribution of various exposure pathways or routes to internal dose remains challenging. This study introduced the internal allocation factor (IAF) for 319 pesticides to investigate the impact of different exposure pathways and routes on chemical distribution within the human body.

Objective: The aim of this study is to detail and evaluate the surgical procedure for perilymph sampling from the cochlear apex in the Mongolian gerbil.
Design: Perilymph sampling from the cochlear apex was performed one to three time in 12 male gerbils aged 8 to 12 months via the submandibular route. 11 of them were previously implanted with intracochlear implants loaded with dexamethasone and placed in the scala tympani, the 12th was used to collect control samples.

Metabolic disease is rising along with both global industrialization and the use of new commercial, agricultural, and industrial chemicals and food additives. Exposure to these compounds may contribute to aspects of metabolic disease such as obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver disease. Ingesting compounds in the food supply is a key route of human exposure, resulting in the interaction between toxicants or additives and the intestinal microbiota.

p-Phenylenediamines (PPDs) are widely used as antioxidants in numerous rubber products to prevent or delay oxidation and corrosion. However, their derived quinones (PPD-Qs), generated through reactions with ozone, are ubiquitous in the environment and raise significant health and toxicity concerns. This review summarizes the current state of knowledge on environmental distribution and fate, human exposure, and biological toxicity of PPDs and PPD-Qs, and makes recommendations for future research directions.
