Transfer news: the use of a simple method allows the various sensitization steps in Eu(III) -containing complexes to be deciphered. Incorporation of an increasing number of electron-withdrawing fluorine atoms on the rigid and electronically tunable phenyl spacer between two tridentate binding units (see picture, red O, dark blue N) affects the quantum yield, intersystem crossing, and energy-transfer processes in a rational way.

In recent years, metal halide perovskite-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have garnered significant attention as they display high quantum efficiency, good spectral tunability, and are expected to have low processing costs. When the peak emission wavelength is beyond 900 nm the interest is even higher because of the critical importance of this wavelength for biomedical imaging, night vision, and sensing. However, many challenges persist in fabricating these high-performance NIR LEDs, particularly for wavelengths above 950 nm, which appear to be limited by low radiance and poor stability.

The incorporation of fluorine into amino acids is an important strategy to produce tailored building blocks with unique properties for peptide-based materials. Phenylalanine is frequently modified due to its role in cation-π interactions and the formation of amyloid fibres. Previous studies have utilized gas-phase vibrational spectroscopy to study interactions between canonical amino acids.

To investigate the ocean contamination caused by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), UiO-67/perfluorooctanoic acid (UiO-67/PFOA) was synthesized through solvent-assisted ligand incorporation method. The UiO-67/PFOA was then served as an adsorbent in headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) technology for collecting and concentrating trace PAHs. The addition of the PFOA improved the hydrophobicity and stability of the UiO-67/PFOA coating, and the C-F functional group in UiO-67/PFOA could form the pseudo hydrogen bonding with the CH on the benzene ring of PAHs, which endowed the UiO-67/PFOA with 1.
